i was just informed by my fiance that he is having one of his female family friends standing up next to his best man.

i have NO problem with this whatsoever, because if i were to have more than just a maid of honor, i'd have a girl and a guy stand up for me(my best friends in college were a girl and a guy, and my cousin is standing up for me now).

BUT, my question is this: i am just having a maid of honor stand up for me, and he is having two stand up for him. is that odd? i guess it can be whatever i want, but is that weird?

thanks for advice !

I personally didn't want an uneven bridal party, but if unevenness doesn't bother you than I think that's fine!

hmmm.

i just can't afford to buy dresses for girls is part of the problem, and i also can't handle all the drama that goes along with it all. i would have plenty of people i would feel wonderful about being a bridesmaid, but i just want to keep it simple.

i didn't know he was going to ask her, lol. i'm fine with it, i just hope she wears something from alfred angelo like i've picked out for my maid of honor or something dressy with my colors; that's what i'm most nervous about. i've never met this chick in my life but she and my fiance have been friends for years so it's important to him ...

sigh. i guess i'll have to think about it a little. i don't want to ask anyone just to make a wedding party even, i want to ask them because i want them to be there ... why is wedding planning no fun sometimes? lol.

At our wedding in Disney last month I had my 3 friends from high school stand up for me. We have know each other since 1973 (the year we were all freshmen) and there is no way I could decide. One is married, one is single and one is divorced. In the program I called them Matron of Honor, Maid of Honor and Maid of Dishonor :rotfl2: (only kidding on that one) - she was Maid of Honor. They all wore a different dress in the same color from the Alfred Angelo line and nothing could have been better - although only one signed the license. My DH, who was married before had his 20 year old son as his Best Man and then had two groomsmen.

Don't worry about symmetry - just have who you want to have up there with you. Besides, sometimes asymmetry looks much more interesting! ;)

because my stepson couldn't go..I had only girls..

I had one MOH & DH had his two brothers as his Best Men. I actually like how our pictures came out with the odd amount. :goodvibes

Well you are right with that! Drama oh lordy! lol.

On a serious note, definitely dont ask someone b/c you feel you have to!
Also, can you talk to your DF and tell him that you'd like it if she wore the same dress as your MOH, or a similar dress i.e. from the same designer... or at least the same color? Typically the guys coordinate with the girls, so I see no reason she can't match your MOH. :)

We each had a best friend and then my daughter, so we had two girls and one guy. For entrance the guys are already there, and when they left, the best man had a girl on each side. Looked fine and he seemed to be enjoying it too ! Just a little snug getting between the bushes on the exit.

My two sisters were my MOH and DH's brother was his BM. It didn't look weird at all.

I don't think it'll look funny at all. Another idea for what she should wear - waht about a black dress to match the tuxes?

Do you have to pay for the dresses? My MOH bought her own dress. If I had more girls I wouldn't pay for their dresses. :confused3

In all the weddings I have been in, I have always purchased my own dress, shoes, bag and hair things. I did not purchase the dresses for my girls - or their shoes or bags. I did get them matching necklaces (Mickey Swarovski ones) and matching watches (personalized Mickey watches from the Disney Shopping website) but those were their gifts for being in my wedding.

Thats what i did when i was a "Best Man" for my friend
i had the same dress as the bridesmaids but in black instead of the purple she put her girls in...

also i dont worry about the numbers being uneven
i looks fine i pictures

DF and I decided on no attendants. Our guest list is immediate family only and we decided that we would have the moms witness the paperwork...Besides-if no one else shows up...we know our moms will!!! :rotfl:
