Came across the facebook page StrandedinNewZealand and was struck by the reaction from the tourism industry.

I just knew there was some good stories out there about this natural disaster.
Of course the news is focusing on the negative stuff. I have heard of the awful stories of people max'd out on their credit at hotels that have been charging exorbitant amounts for rooms. People who may have lost wages and /or jobs.
I am sending well wishes to all the people who are waiting it out. Hope they get to where they need to be soon.

There are good people everywhere, it's heartwarming to read of all the generous offers of people to open their homes to stranded travelors.

No room at the Inn at my house unfortunately otherwise I would offer the same here in the UK.

Good to see not everyone is just putting their prices up to cash in on the crisis.
