StraightTalk Cell phone plan

So I'm a big fan of the Clark Howard show. He recommended a cell phone plan called straightTalk, Its 30 dollars a month for 1000 min and 1000 text. I have decided that in my life a cell phone is not a want , but a need. I don't have a home phone, and I have a young son and an elderly mom who I care for. So its something I have to work into my budget. Right now I pay about 55 a month to verizon for 450 min and 500 text... and most months I end up not making calls that i want to because i don't have the extra mins.

So has anyone tried StraightTalk... what do you think? How was the service?

i saw a commerical for it last night with meredith baxter. i got a little excited, i loved her on family ties. i hadn't heard of before yesterday...but i just thought id throw it out there that i had seen a commerical for it with mrs keaton!
