straightening iron

Well, the absolute best ones are the Chi. They are a little pricey but work really well and really quickly. I have a Jilbere which is advertised as "comparible to Chi". I bought it at a salon supply store for much less (around $40) and I love it! I have really thick, naturally wavy-curly hair that is about half-way down my back and it only takes me about 10 minutes to straighten my hair with it. Watever you get make sure it is ceramic, not only do these work better than the metal plates they are also less damaging to the hair.

YEs, Chi is best but also the most expensive. Definitely look for Ceramic (with the ion). I have a REmington Wet-2-Dry and I love it! $25 at Walmart.

CHI all the way, especially if her hair is very wavy or thick. The CHI is pricey. I paid about 100-120 for my dd's CHI's, but found mine a couple of month ago at Penneys for 84.00.

I have a CHI as well and love it. I have seen them on sale recently as JC Penney salon and places like ULTA. I have heard Sally's Beauty Supply has one that is comparable to a CHI and may be worth looking into.

She will be very happy if you get her a Chi iron. They can be found at many beauty supply stores, even JC Penney and Sam's Club (at least in the past). The Chi silk oil is wonderful to go with it, too. Do not attempt to get a cheap flat iron if she has thick or curly hair---they really don't work.

SIL's Chi broke last week...the on/off thing. It shocked her good when it went, too. She contacted the store, who said since she bought in October, it has to go through the manufacturer. She contacted the manufacturer, and they said it would be several weeks while they look into this.

So check reviews, see if anyone else is having similar issues. I paid $30-ish 2 yrs ago for a Revlon straightening iron. Mine's fine still.

Actually, it's not the most expensive. Some brands are over $300 and the Chi averages about $120. OP: I actually just saw one at Costco recently for $59---which is unheard of. If they still have them at that price, I'd run out and get one. Maybe you can call and see if any locations in your town have one.

I love my Chi. I had cheaper ones from Walmart/Target, but once I got my Chi I will never go back. Worth every penny!

Yep, that's where I got my Jilbere a few years ago under a big display sign that say comparible to Chi. I still love it.

I have a Jibere and a Chi and I don't think there's any comparison. The Chi is so much better.

CHI; often for a good price at JcPenny salon.

I tried all the cheaper brands (Revlon, Clairol, Hot Sets, etc) and finally broke down & got the CHI. BEST investment I ever made. The difference is amazing with my thick, wavy hair. It was worth every penny.
