Does anyone use this phone plan? DH & I are considering switching to this phone plan. We have considered adding data to our current plan, however, that would add another $60 to the bill. We looked at Straight Talk and it would only add $6 to the current price we pay if we switch. Voice minutes & texting will be the same under both plans. The only difference is the cost to get data. If you have this plan, how do you like it? Is it reliable? Does the data part work well? Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I don't use the data aspect, but I am very happy with the plan. We have the $30 for 1000min/1000text plus what ever data comes with it. I have had it for almost a year and it has dropped 1 call (maybe....still not sure whose phone dropped the call!).

We switched to ST almost a year ago. (they use Verizon towers, I'm not sure If it's 100% or they pay for a certian number)
Anyway It is like a basic car.
It gets you to were you are going with nothing WOW.....I swithced because it's only 2 phones and I hate being under a 2year contract.
The text and talk work great. The internet Is like dail up.
This is because we don't have the $300 phone. We have the $100 slider samsung phone and so far no problems.
It works good for us. I'm not an internet person on my phone, so It hasn't been an issue. I get my wife the $45 unlimited and I do the $30 1000minutes. I think their might be comparible options out there. Like Virgin mobile. I think they use the Sprint network and the price is close.
So as far as internet on Straight Talk, unless you get the higer end phone with the better software, It's like using dail up. Infact I don't even think I've used the internet to times. They do have a Facebook page and you could get more answer from customers there.

Thanks for the input. I'll check out the facebook page too. We might switch just for the $30 voice/text plan anyway. We don't even come close to using 1000 minutes with both of us combined.

Both my DS's have the $45 a month unlimited text/talk plan and are very happy with it. It works out to pretty much $50 a month with tax etc..but they seem happy to pay that. We live in a pretty dead zone for wireless service and they both get great signal here.

The one drawback my youngest has with it is that he wants a case/cover for it and they don't make them (that we can find). If I could get cheaper internet than Verizon, I'd think of cancelling my landline and get one myself.

I don't have the Straight talk plan. I have had various Tracfones for about 9 years now. I did upgrade to one of their new models of Mobile Web capable phones, and got to keep my normal Tracfone service and prices, as I don't use the web/data plan much, so I didn't want to pay the extra monthly charge for it with the Straight Talk plan.

It really depends on how much you will be using the web/data, texting functions to pay for the Straight Talk plan instead of regular Tracfone minutes cards. I don't use them much, but I really wanted to have those capabilities at the regular price I pay now.

Here is my review of the Tracfone I got. (There is a version of it for the Straight Talk Plan.)

Since my review, the Tracfone website is currently listing newer camera/mobile web models now. They are now calling web capable phones "Mobile web."

The LG420g

The LG420g has a review here:

It's a GSM cellphone. AT&T or T-Mobile would be the base carrier (through Tracfone) for this phone.

The other camera/mobile web phone listed is the LG 231C

It's a Verizon based Tracfone. I couldn't find any reviews on it.

It's really depends on which cell phone carrier normally works best in your area.
