Stowing Luggage in Stateroom

I'm worried about which suitcases we should use for our cruise. We'll be cruising for 7 days, plus another 2 days on land before we board.

Where can you store suitcases? Will anything fit under the beds? If so, what is the approximate clearance? I'd like to bring the fewest suitcases possible but I don't want to be walking around them all week long. Our biggest suitcase is about 9-1/2 inches deep. We can nestle all the others inside of that one, but I'm just wondering if they'd fit under the bed.

TIA!

I emptied all our suitcases right away either hanging things or putting things in drawers and so on. We kept our suitcases in the closet and it worked out just fine as we had worn clothes I would put them back into the suitcase in the closet that kept the room very neat, (I am one of those people who doesn't leave a mess for the people who clean your room) anyway we did really well with doing it that way. I don't think you can get anything under the beds at all that I remember. I am sure someone can correct me on that one but I am pretty sure there was no room underneath.

We were only able to get a garment bag under the bed; the rest of the suitcases were stored in the closet.

We were a bit crunched because we also had 2 car seats (because we had to rent a van to go to PE) and a double stroller, but it wasn't too bad.

We were only able to store one suitcase and the carryon luggage under our bed, the clearance isn't too high (sorry I don't know the measurements). The rest of our luggage was too big, and it fit fine in the closet.

We were able to put all of our suitcases under our bed. We had two "roll-on" type suitcases; they are sizeable in terms of their depth and they both easily fit without lifting the bed. We also had two large suitcases and they fit under the bed as well but had to lift the beds to get them under. To top it off, I also put the garment bag under the bed too. If you want to know measurements, I can check that later as I'm at work now.

We put our suitcases under the bed on both or our cruises and its never been an issue.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Can anyone tell me how many suitcases they ended up taking?

For a 7 night cruise, with 3 nights at WDW (and 5 people) I brought 4 suitcases (3 large, 1 small) 1 garment bag and 1 carry-on tote.

All luggage was nested and put in the closet, and I hung the garment bag in the closet. No problems, and it was out of the way.

For the 7 night I brought one for me and one for my daughter...they both fit under the bed along with my friends luggage and her daughters. If they dont fit just lift the bed up a little and they should fit fine in most cases. I bring a laundry bag and keep it in the corner with all the dirty clothes and then wash them every few days (I can not STAND to have dirty clothes back in my suitcase to take home, even in a plastic bag it grosses me out)

We brought 2 large Delsey hardsided suitcases,( 20" x 34" x 9" deep) and 4 carry-ons for 4 for a 7 day Eastern. If the two beds are pushed together into a queen, they both fit under the bed no problem. I did have to lift up the frame of the bed to slide the luggage under since the clearance was less than 9 ".
Did laundry once, on Thursday, but I gather we travel a lot lighter than some folks. And we have big clothes, I'm 6'2', as is my son, my wife is 5'6" and my daugher is 5'7".

We were able to get all but our biggest suitcase under the bed.... I really think I could have had I lifted the frame, but just stuck it in the closet. I don't know how big out biggest suitcase is... it is huge... both kids (almost 2 & almost 4) climbed in and curled up! But it would have fit.

HTH!

We put the flotation devices under the bed - which freed up some storage space in the closet!

You can also take the life jackets from the closet and put them under the beds. That will free up space in the closet for bags.

If you are having problems getting your luggage under the bed, ask your stateroom host/hostess. They know all the tricks!

For our family of 4, we took: 1 garment bag, 1 large rolling suitcase, 1 smaller (max carry on) rolling bag, 1 softsided large suitcase, 1 duffle bag, 2 kids backpacks (just with their things for the plane/car ride and snacks), and 1 large tote bag. For our upcoming 10 day cruise (with 3 days at WDW ahead of time), I figure I'll need 2 bag per person, plus carryons!

I did the same thing. I bought a "pop-up" laundry basket that folds flat when you pack it away and it had handles so I could carry it back and forth to the laundry!

We were able to get 3 suitcases under the bed on our last sailing..........Large suitcases!!!!

Ours wouldn't fit under the bed, so stood them on end by the nightstands. Worked fine.

Pulled the dressing table seat under the mirror and put our duffle underneath for dirty clothes. Put flotation devices under the foot of the bed.

Worked great.

We had 5 suitcases, a garment bag and a duffel bag. Two of the suitcases are very large and expadable. We were able to fit all under the bed by nesting everything into the two larger suitcases and keeping them open (they would not fit closed). A little manvering and nesting and you should be fine.

We had new luggage for this -- our third DCL cruise -- and all of it was too big in structure for under the bed, except the totes. We hung the garment bag in the closet on the side with the safe, and nestled two of the pieces and put them in the closet. The other large piece we stored next to the "dresser" (the one attached to the closet wall) and it not only fit and was not in the way, but served as a "table" to put other clothes or books on.

FYI -- I always bring large plastic bags to put the luggage in so that it doesn't get dirty and scuffed when under the bed or in the closet, etc.

Our two largest pieces of luggage would not fit in the closet because they were too wide, they wouldn't fit no matter how we turned them, so I remembered reading about lifting up the bed and sliding them under, so that's what I did. We kind of had them sticking out a little, but then it was time for the safety drill so I left them like that. Later that evening, I noticed that our cabin steward fixed them for us by sliding them completely under the bed. I appreciated him doing that :) We had Darwin, and we've booked the same exact cabin for 2006, and we'd love to have him as our steward again :)

P.S. We have 6 pieces of luggage all together (for 4 of us) and they nest, so we nested them and this way all of the luggage was out of our way.
