Could you please tell me about it? What exactly is the theme or style to it? Are there characters? We have Goofys Kitchen reservations but now I am second guessing this after seeing some reviews. It would have been all of ours first character meal experience. Thanks!!

Storytellers Café offers a Critter Breakfast with characters, but they don't have a character dinner. They operate as a regular non-character restaurant for lunch and dinner.

They have a small buffet at the Critter Breakfast -- not as big or as varied at the Goofy's Kitchen buffet.

The setting of the restaurant is nice and cozy, with a lot of woodsy art and décor all around.

The characters are also of the 'woodsy'/'jungle-y' variety -- such as the ever-present Chip and Dale (who are at 3 character meals), Koda and Kenai, sometimes Rafiki, sometimes Meeko, sometimes Pluto, sometimes a Brer character or two, sometimes Baloo, etc. There are usually 4 - 6 characters making the rounds at any given time (whereas, at Goofy's you could see anywhere from 3 - 8 characters).

A lot of people love the Critter Breakfast because they think the food quality is better than the food at the other character meals.

Some folks prefer the Critter Breakfast because it doesn't have the same energetic, lively atmosphere of Goofy's Kitchen, or the chaos that sometimes takes place at Minnie & Friends. The Critter Breakfast is a nice "quiet" character meal.

You should check out the Character Meal Superthread for additional reviews, comments, etc.

Out of the Critter Breakfast, Surf's Up with Mickey and Goofy's Kitchen, Goofy's is my favorite, and Goofy's has both a character breakfast/brunch and a dinner.

We ate there last week with our girls age 9&7. There were only 2 characters, Koda and Chip. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice, but we just felt it was a little boring for a "character breakfast". We also did Surf's Up and Minnie's and out of the three our favorite was Surf's Up. We've done Goofy's in the past and I think it's hit or miss. We've had one great experience and one not so great. Have a great time!

I've booked Storytellers breakfast for my trip because Koda and Kenai are there and I've never seen them before. Goofy's characters you can see more regularly outside the breakfast in Disney parks I think.

They discontinued the breakfast menu around Spring break. It's only the buffet now.

Oh really? Wow! I totally missed that (then again, the Critter Breakfast is my least favorite so I don't keep up with it as much as I should:rotfl2:). I'll correct my above post so that no one reads it and mistakenly thinks the menu orders are still an option at breakfast.

That's good to know. I guess it is not shocking. I suspected that a lot of people were opting to order off the menu instead of getting the more expensive buffet, although the menu items were not exactly inexpensive either.

I did not care for the character interaction when we went this past March.

* The number of characters is low compared to the other meals
* Because they have paws instead of hands, they cannot sign autograph books (my son was really into getting autographs)
* The characters are lesser known....so may not be as big of a "oh wow" moment depending on who your child(Ren) are into....

However, the food was WONDERFUL especially the eggs benedict yum yum yum!

We did Minnie & Friends for breakfast in 2012 and it was amazing. TONS of characters, great interaction etc.

Surf's Up will be the next breakfast we try.

We did Goofy's for Character Dinner this past March and had a great experience there! Good number of characters and good food selection.

I think that was probably the reason for the change, along with the bonus of needing less kitchen staff and supplies for a smaller menu. Ordering a la carte was always my plan if I ate there for breakfast. Honestly, as a non-meat eater, paying $17 for an egg dish is a lot easier to swallow then $28-$30 for a buffet where I might end up with a waffle, some danish and maybe scrambled eggs. I wish they'd tried something like a prix fixe, where you get to pick one item from each list. I don't love that character meals have to be buffets, and that's one of the main reasons I don't shell out the extra money every so often to do one.
