So DH and I are considering doing a character breakfast on our departure day. Goofy's has always been and probably will continue to be a tradition for our family. Since this trip will be just the two of us, we are thinking of trying something different. We will not have park tickets for that day so that leaves Storytellers or PCH Grill. Which one would you choose and why?

I've done both.....Storytellers is real nice.....PCH is kinda bleh......characters were dull, food was mediocre, and it was a farther distance to get to the meal and back to the hotel etc.......JMO

We love Storytellers, we get there early so we see the characters. We like the food and I love there stuffed french toast. I got some good pictures with the characters. Meeko is so cute, he hugged the front door like he was stuck on it like a car decal. I wish I had my camera when he did that.

I love storyteller's! I think the food is amazing and I love chip and dale.

I have not been to the Aloha breakfast at PCH grill, so I cannot compare. But i have been to Storyteller's twice now and both times left feeling satisfied.

If its just you and your DH I would go for storytellers in a heartbeat. You can order from the menu or do the buffet which seemed a little higher end than Goofys kitchen to me. I second the banana stuffed french toast suggestion made by PP.

I may be in the minority but WE LOVE LILO'S breakfast. We love the characters and food choices are great. We love the pinapple coconut scones, flautas and other yummies. Plus there are all the traditional foods. Yummy and great character interaction

Well we've only been to Storyteller's before and my mom enjoyed it so much she went back with my brother in late March for breakfast. For our next trip (mid Sept) we plan to have meals at both ST & L&S ~ our 1st day will be a non park day for us (we're blocked out) we fly in pretty early so we'll have a late breakfast at PCH w/ Lilo & Stitch then on our check out day from GCH (just staying that 1st night) we'll visit DL for a couple hours and head back to check out but we'll have a late breakfast at ST before.

I'm mad hatter fan's DH and I guess I'm being swayed to try out Storytellers. I have to admit that I may be the one in the family that likes Goofy's Kitchen best, though everyone thoroughly enjoys it. It's good to try something new. With restaurants, my tendency is to stick to the ones I know I like best. We'll give it a try.

Well, we liked both equally. Both have menu or buffet. Both have good characters.

Storytellers physically is sort of lodgey, while PCH Grill is open and bright.

I will say that the coffee at Storytellers is better...while everything is Nescafe, the server at Story told me it's a different blend at Storytellers.

Then again, Lilo/Stitch has white rice made in a rice cooker, which can be a huge draw, if you have the tradition of rice all day! Hubby loved that, since he's Korean. :)

Goofy's is my friends' and my tradition, also (we have no kids!). We have worked it into every DLR trip since 1992, sometimes more than once per trip, and we also have done a couple of meals there in the past where we didn't go into DL at all. But, as you say, it's good to try something different in addition to Goofy's to get the full spectrum of character dining experiences.

Now, I cannot comment on Lilo and Stitch's character meal as I have not tried that yet but I have done the Storytellers Critter breakfast a couple of times. Here is what I would say - Storytellers overall is a nice, cozy, warm, earthy-type of restaurant - it is cozier than Goofy's Kitchen in atmosphere. So that may be appealing to you. They do have a menu option or a buffet option. Since you are used to Goofy's and you know the size of the Goofy's buffet, don't expect that same variety at Storytellers. While the food at Storytellers is good, the buffet does not have as wide a selection of offerings as GK and the off-the-menu orders are on the costly side for what you get (interestingly, the breakfast menu dishes are often more expensive than what you will find on the Storytellers non-character lunch menu!). I paid about $17, I think, for the American Breakfast back in 2007, and it has has now gone up to $20!! For the portion size it was, that was not worth it to me and the buffet was a much better value!

Also, the Storytellers character meal has a different 'vibe' to it than Goofy's. The characters are all the 'jungly' and 'woodsy' Disney characters (Chip, Dale, Koda, Kenai, Terk, sometimes Rafiki, Meeko, Baloo and rumors of occasional Brer critters too!). It is a more sedate, laid back and relaxed atmosphere, and not the high octane kind of energy level of Goofy's. I do like Chip and Dale - though they can be found at at least 3 character meals - but the Brother Bear characters I could take or leave, and so I think that is why I am ambivalent about Storytellers as a character meal. It was just so-so to me and my friends seemed iffy about the characters. But a lot of other people on the DIS love Storytellers because the mood is different there and is more calm. SO you may love it too! Goofy's will probably always remain my favorite, but I was glad to have tried Storytellers a couple of times and I look forward to trying Lilo and Stitch in the future.
