I just wanted to pass on a wonderful experience I had at Storyteller's Cafe at The Grand Californian hotel. Our server was Christina and she took some extra time to explain each of the 7 murals that hang in the restaurant. It seems that she had a chance to talk with the artist and gathered some great information about the wonderful paintings.

If you have a chance to eat at the Storyteller's Cafe, be sure to ask to be seated in Christina's section.

It really is a very nice restaurant! They have a terrific dinner buffet.

Thank you both for sharing your experiences!

I am planning a trip in October and will be having breakfast with Chip and Dale there, so I appreciate the info!

I agree!

We happen to stop into the Cafe, I did not know about the Story Telling part, and was very pleased with the storys.

It happen to be later at night, and I think the woman telling us the stories almost put my DD to sleep. I asked if she made "room calls". Since the resturant was almost empty she took the time to tell us many stories, my DD was so interested in what she was saying ( and my DD does not sit still for too many people!)

ITs a great place!!!!!

<font color=navy>I've eaten there three times now. The first time was extremely special since the kids & I were there with Dan, Teri, and Teri's kids. The company was excellent, and so was the food. We all had the buffet, and enjoyed it.

The second time we went, it was "okay" - the company was "okay" and our waitress was a little tired since she had just got back from a date in Las Vegas. :earseek:

We were there just this past weekend, and ordered off of the menu - food was delish, and the service impeccable. The CM was very good (I wish I had got his name), and explained the stories to my cousin, who had never been, and then went on to tell us that the music played matches the stories in the paintings. We could tell the music for the main painting in the middle, and would catch him every time he passed us to ask him what painting was being played - he was always pleasant, and added to our enjoyment of the meal. My cousin was also impressed with the restaurant, and is looking to returning in July with her own kids.

How far in advance can you make priority seating for this rest? Is it necessary for breakfast?

I did not make any reservations, just walked in and was seated.

Maybe someone out there can assist us with how Priority Seating works at the Disneyland Resort?

Do they even have Priority Seating as we know it at WDW?

Thanks in advance.

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=navy>I've been to Storytellers once for dinner and twice for lunch, and there was no line at any time we were there. I think SC is basically undiscovered as yet, and really needs no PS at this time. However, I have never had breakfast there, so I do not know how crowded they can get in the morning.

There is priority seating, and the phone number is (714) 956-6755. The restaurants that really need this for weekend evenings are:
Rainforest Cafe
ESPN Club

I'll find out about the others & put them in another post.

Priority Seating is relatively new at the Disneyland Resort.

I've been to Storytellers several times as well and enjoy it.

You definitely need a PS for the character breakfast, that does seem to be crowded, especially on weekends. I have been there other times on weekends for dinner when it was a bit crowded as well.

For advance PSs at the hotel restaurants, anyone can make those up to 30 days in advance.

Advance PSs at some of the THEME PARK restaurants (such as Blue Bayou) can only be made by guests staying at one of the Disney hotels. Same-day PSs can be made by anyone else for these restaurants. Aside from the Blue Bayou, the others are:

Carnation Cafe
ABC Soap Opera Bistro
Avalon Cove (supposedly this one is included, but I was told that they did NOT take advance reservations for hotel guests once I was there)
Golden Vine Winery

Hope that helps!

Can you use the Disney Club 800 number to make PS?

Is there breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Storyteller's Cafe? All buffets? If so, do you know the price?

Are there characters just at the breakfast? Which characters?

Would my older kids like it? DDs...almost 13 and 11. DS is 8.

Thanks! We'll be there two weeks from today...lots to learn!

Character Breakfast is Chip and Dale, and I think maybe Pluto. There was another post recently that said the characters are in the lobby area, but they don't roam the restaurant. I think breakfast is around $16.95-$17.95 for the buffet, and several other posts said that you can also order from a menu.

I just got back and this is the biggest rip-off of all of Disney's restaurants. It was just under $60 for breakfast for 4 (we ordered off the menu) and the characters did not move from the entrance except for a parade with kids following them (we were put in the back of the restaurant and not told about the parade so my kids were unable to join in.) Our waitress seemed quite upset when we didn't want the buffet (she was actually going to have to serve us--which she did very little of.) The muffins under my wife's eggs benedict were coal black. I do not recommend this place one bit. Goofy's was by far superior.
