Storytellers at Grand Californian Closed Jan 22-26

The DIS has learned that Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort will be closed for several days over the next couple of weeks for what appears to be a refurbishment.

During the closure, the Chip ‘n Dale Critter Breakfast will be temporarily relocated to the Napa Rose. Characters will still greet guests and a buffet will be served.

Lunch and dinner will not be served at Storytellers Cafe during the closures.

The dates of the closures are January 22 – 26, 2018 and February 5 – 9, 2018.

At this time, we don’t know the nature of the refurbishment or any other details.

There is no notice of the closure on the Storytellers reservation page, but there are no dinner reservations available January 22 - 26. Dinner reservations are available February 5 - 9, so perhaps the second closure will not happen (just a guess).

Napa Rose is beautiful in the morning, flooded with natural light from the rising sun. I consider the temporary relocation an upgrade to the Character Breakfast.

Storytellers is the main kitchen for GCH, also supporting: Heartstone Lounge, the pool, room service, and the Veranda (craftsmans). The details of the refurbishment were not announced, so it’s unknown if there will be any secondary effects caused by the closure.

Maybe un related, but when we had breakfast at surfs up on December 29th, it was super super busy. Which for that time of year we expected, but then tour waitor told us that storytellers had to close due to an oven issue thing and so they had sent all the story teller guests to surfs up.

Thanks for posting this. Storytellers is our "go to" for our mostly-weekly date night. I had noticed no reservations for next Friday but hadn't checked any other dates around it yet. Hmm. Might have to have Napa Rose date night instead!
