Storyland tips?

We aren't going to WDW again until next year, so as a substitute we are taking DD4 to Storyland in North Conway, NH this weekend.

Any tips out there for the visit to Storyland or any restaurant recommendations in the area?

Storyland!!

We live in NH and have been going for the past three years... Since our boys were just over one.

The park is obviously no DisneyWorld, but it is still amazing in its own right. Extremely clean, and extremely safe feeling. I would leave my pocketbook and expensive camera just tucked in our stroller when we were on rides.

Go after two (three on some dates, check the calendar) and you get in for free the next day is well. That is what we always do. The last few hours of a day give us enough time to get our lay of the land and go on a few favorite rides, and then we are excited for the next day.

If you want to ride the antique cars, take a left as soon as you enter the park in the morning Nd go there first. It is the only ride I have ever seen a twenty+ minute wait for. Even the rollercoaster has been a short wait when we have been there. We always go during the first full week of August, midweek. Avoid the weekends!

The park food is meh, but there are quite a few restaurants on the main drag on the way into North Conway. We went to a brewery last time and really enjoyed it, and also a Thai restaurant.

Eta: just noticed that you are going this weekend, and that should be fine, crowd-wise. Fall is their slow time.

You're all pulling at my heartstrings with this! We went to Storyland every year, at least once, for 13 years until my kids decided they were too old.

We just LOVE it up there! We liked eating at the Muddy Moose, the 99's (yes, I know those are everywhere, but it became a tradition), Up Country always looked good, but also always had a line! Many of the local places are very good as well....Bellini's in the Outlet Mall is good, though you're better off taking the food out as it's really small.

Have a great time! Think of me when you're riding the Wooden Shoes, those were my favorite!

The wooden shoes are our favorites too! Probably now tied with the farm tractors.

I'm actually a local to this area so we visit the restaurants around here often. I would definitely recommend the Moat Mt. Smokehouse and Delaney's Hole in the Wall. Those are two of our favorites.

The Muddy Moose is good, but often really busy. Up Country closed earlier this year. There is a new restaurant there, but I haven't hear any reviews yet and we have not been there.

As for the restaurant in the outlet mall, that is called Brandlis (Bellini's is another local restaurant. It's moved recently and I haven't been there in a while but it was always really good.) Brandlis has pizza and subs and such and is really good, but kind of pricy for what you get.

Best pizza in town is Elvio's. They have terrific Sicilian pizza. It's mostly a carry out place too, but they do have some tables inside and picnic benches outside.

If you see a green Dodge Journey with Mickey and Tink on the back window make sure you wave!

We have had annual passes to Storyland for the past 3 years. I will be very sad when my son decided he's too old!

We always park across the street and then walk in the underground tunnel to the entrance. It's much easier to leave at the end of the day (if you're driving towards No. Conway) than trying to cross traffic.

We usually bring our lunch in a cooler. You can leave it in Old Mother Hubbard's Cupboard on the right after you enter the park.

For about $11 including tax, they have tea with Cinderella twice a day. It was very nicely done. It's on a decorated stage. Kids get ice tea, a cookie and grapes to eat and a coloring book, too.

Crowds won't be a problem, as we are all in school up here in New England. Usually my family goes up around this time (going to Disney soon though instead this year), and it's so easy! Walk on to nearly everything. There are cutbacks on staffing (because high school and college students have left) but the crowds are so minimal you probably won't notice anyways.

We have to recommend the Red Fox for dinner, just past Storyland up 16, on the left hand side. It does get busy when Storyland closes (I think 5:00 this time of year), because lots of families go there. But there's a great menu that will feed mom and dad grown up food, but very kid friendly choices too.

We also usually go to Delaney's - also pretty kid friendly. We don't like Muddy Moose, as we felt it was WAY too loud and chaotic when we went. Ugh. We do 99 or Applebee's because that's what our kids like, but obviously I wouldn't necessarily recommend them - they're a chain, no novelty there.

I do recommend the Lindt outlet at Settlers Green for dessert

Height requirement is 36 inches, which I'm sure your daughter has reached, as my 3 year old is a peanut and he was 36 1/2 a month ago. So you should be able to go an all the rides (with a parent).

Ditto recommendation for Red Fox - the meals and specialty drinks are amazing! And if you can manage driving up midway through the day, check into your hotel or inn and then go to Storyland for 3pm. You pay a full day's ticket but then can get in for the entire next day as well! It's a great way to get familiar with the park and hit a few rides as most people are winding down and leaving for the day. When we went, we stayed at Christmas Farm Inn and they ran a special where for 2 nights, dinner for one night was included in the price - and the Inn and its restaurant are fantastic!

We have been going to Storyland for YEARS; we vacation on the Lake every year for 2 weeks and Storyland is a must with our family. We LOVE the Loopy Lab which is a must and the Crazy Barn! Our recommendation is what a pp said; take a left at the entrance and start at the antique cars - we always do the park in reverse and never wait on a line!
I remember when my DD11 was younger, she loved the costume shop and always came home with a new princess outfit!

See..I've only not been there for two years and I'm forgetting the names of the restaurants already!!!

It really is a wonderful place to vacation. I have a collage frame in my entryway of some of our trips when our kids were little. On rainy days you'll still catch one of us singing "Mr. Sunshine, bring us your rays..we know you can brighten our days!..."
