Storybook predictions

For some reason, I have a fear that Storybook will go the way of BOG and become a signature meal requiring 2 DDP credits. Anyone have predictions?

I have no idea, but I am hoping not :) BOG has the prestige (?) of being in a park, vs a resort. The price is the same at 1900 Park Fare for dinner, so I don't see how they could justify changing AP to 2 credits and not the other.

I don't see it happening. It's currently 2:51pm ET when I type this and I just checked dinner availability 180 days from now...and there are multiple slots open. I checked 'Ohana right after that and I can't find anything for dinner. 'Ohana hasn't been bumped up to signature and it's the tougher ADR, so I'm thinking no.

BOG has been removed from my must do list. Didn't enjoy our last dining experience first weekend of June. Don't like the menu change and I don't want to spend 1 hour 45 minutes in a restaurant in the park.

If it were inside MK, most likely would happen.
Being in a resort and not filling completely, I don't expect to see it change.
If it suddenly becomes a must do and every seating is filled, then it might change, but still unlikely.

I hate that Disney took a decent restaurant and made it awful. We used to love artist point for adult dining now we have no desire to go.
We really enjoyed every meal we had at Artist Point. Never had a bad meal there. But I read many reviews that were totally different experiences than we had. Not sure if they were too picky or we were too easy to please.
Either way, Artist Point is gone and a new expereince is there. Still waiting to find a time to try it.

I agree. Artist Point was the only signature that I consistently liked a lot. In general I'm also a big fan of character dining, but I really don't like what's happened to the appetizers and desserts at Storybook. I was able to substitute and get the kids' appetizer, which was good, and the squash soup they used to have was also nice, but the standard adult appetizers now on the menu are all things I wouldn't eat. If they had merely added characters and kept the great menu from the fine dining version of Artist Point, that would have been fine with me, but sorry, that spongecake dessert with fruity pebbles is icky IMHO. If they change the appetizers and desserts to items I find more palatable, I'd be glad to give it another try sometime.

We loved Artist Point and were sad it changed. However, my daughter and I did the Storybook dining Labor Day weekend and really enjoyed it. The food was good but not signature restaurant good. I had the prime rib and it was served medium instead of the medium rare I had ordered. I did not complain, just ate it. :-). It tasted good. Everything else was really nice. A little slow but that gave us a chance to watch everyone take pictures with the queen. The appetizers were great. Mushroom bisque that was almost as good as the smoked mushroom soup AP used to serve. The desserts were yummy and rich, and nothing was fruity pebbles. thankfully

I think because of the location the 2 DP credits is highly unlikely like others have said. In regards to the mushroom soup... I just wanted a big bowl of that... Everything was good but that soup was amazing!

I agree, 2 credits will be a hard sell in that location. I know that people muss the old AP, but that restaurant could not maintain a healthy census. It's nice that people enjoyed it, but if enough guests do not fill the seats, it cannot sustain itself. At least it was not turned into another buffet.

We've made a couple of ADRs at Storybook, for different trips, and never made them at 180 days before. They always just popped up when I was looking for where to eat close to our trip. I can't imagine that would have been the case for BOG or Le Cellier, back in their 1-credit heydays. I don't think the popularity of Storybook is anywhere near what it was for BOG or Le Cellier.

And we wound up cancelling each of these reservations because after booking, I've googled the dinner menu, and what in the world have they done to the original Artist Point menu? The wild mushroom soup was amazing. The new one is served....cold???

We love the idea of the characters, so I am hoping that as the restaurant gets more seasoned, the menu and execution will improve.

It's worth noting: There IS no longer an "Artist Point". This is GONE - replaced by a character experience called "Storybook Dining". Some people may enjoy this "character dining experience" for what it is - a "character dining experience".

But we need to get past the idea that this "character dining experience" has any connection at all to the now DEAD "Artist Point" :(.
When I was there, they told me they kept the same chef, and I found that the chicken entree tasted the same as before, so I'd say that much seems to be some connection.

There's no way they're going to serve signature quality food at a non-signature restaurant. The taste may be similar, but I'm sure the quality & price of the ingredients has declined. That's to be expected.

I think that by now most people understand that Storybook Dining at Artist Point is not the same experience as the old AP offered. It is also worth noting that this experience, while not offering the same quality of meal or the same atmosphere as the old restaurant is thriving, rather than floundering. I think that one of the issues that Disney must contend with is that there are a finite number of signature dining restaurants that their guests will support and AP was not among those that made the cut. Disney dining is expensive. Most families have a budget for food and must remain within that budget, and that limits their choices. I seldom travel without my family so my spending is inflated time 5 or 7 or 9, depending on how many of my crew joins me. As much as I would love to hit signature meals every night I cannot afford that cost and make my choices based on proximity and my family's preference. In over 14 years of Disney dining my family never once opted to head to AP for dinner, and we obviously were not alone. We chose Flying Fish, Yachtsman, CG, Narcoossees, Tiffins, and Le Cellier over AP. I always saw those choices offered when people asked for dining suggestions far more than AP.

I know you miss this restaurant, and I respect that. I do not respect that you feel compelled to continue to rail against a decision that you are not in agreement with by making sure that we all know we are not getting the fine dining that was there prior to Storybook. We know that, the price is indicative of the meal we will receive. I feel compelled to be sure that you know that while many of us enjoy that meal, we also know the difference between it and fine dining. My Dad was a chef, butchers all his own meat for service, and dry aged it. His specialty was French sauces and technique and was offered a position at the CIA when it first opened. I was exposed to fine dining as a child and am still pretty darn knowledgeable about food and quality. I bet you a buck that most others here also have some insight into the difference between a good meal and an exquisite one.

I was able to get a table for 9 for my families trip next March. I’ve never been to AP but am very exited to try Storybook Dining.

The prices charged to guests still seemed plenty high. My actual experience was that the entree tasted the same. I am not jumping to any conclusions about why it tasted the same; only reporting on how I perceived my meal, and that the server told me they kept the same chef from before the changeover.

I think it's sad that discussion about this restaurant seems to be resulting in some people getting upset with each other. There are various points of view, and I hope we can all get along and not make this personal.
