Has anyone been to this park? Ok, I KNOW it's not Disney, but we are hoping to get there this summer. We were originally talking about going to WDW in June but then when I did the numbers we realized we could do a whole lot of other things for the cost of one week in Florida. (We'll be there in November) DD will be 4 and DS is 8. From reading the brochure and looking at their web site I think we will like it.

We would like to spend up to a week in the area. Long, long ago when i was a kid we vacationed up in NH/ME a lot. We did the Polar Caves and all that. Now I'd like to do it all with my kids.

Any suggestions on where to stay and/or other things to do in the area??

TIA!

Jill

We took our kids there on two trips back when they were in the 4 to 6 yo range. It is a nice little park geared to the little ones. But it is a one day park. The White Mountains are wonderful. We also rode the Cog Railroad up Mount Washington and the kids really loved that. We stayed at the Conway Grand. Do a Google search for their web page. It is right behind a factory outlet shopping center and remember, no sales tax in New Hampster!

We enjoyed staying at the Eagle Mountain House (http://www.eaglemt.com/). The view is beautiful, and there's a great mountain stream to wade in and cool off. It's three miles from Storyland. Heritage NH is fun, too.

Santa's Village in Jefferson, NH is (I believe) an hour from Story Land. We stayed for a few years at the Covered Bridge Bed & Breakfast. DS & I stopped going the summer he became 8.

Hi again Jill!
We went to Storyland a couple of years ago and the kids really enjoyed it. We've been meaning to make it back there but we usually head the other direction, to the Cape in the summer. The park is really clean, they even let you bring in your own lunch if you want to picnic. Be forewarned however, that you won't find any "thrill" rides , if that is what your DS is into. I would say that around eight or nine is the oldest that would really enjoy Storyland. Anyone older might find it a little "lame." (Nothing against the park, just that I think it's geared for young kids). Our two dd's at the time absolutely loved the pumpkin coach that brings you up to Cinderella's castle. Cinderella was played by what seemed to be a high school senior on summer vacation, in a blue prom dress. But if you could have seen my kid's faces as she showed them her glass slipper. It was priceless.

We stayed at a Red Jacket that had an absolutely gorgeous view of the mountains. That's all I can really tell you about it, I no longer have the phone number. But it was a really nice hotel with indoor/outdoor pools, and a nice restaurant with breakfast buffet up on the top floor.

Have a fun trip!!!

We absolutely LOVE this place, and Santa's Village, too! I actually like Santa's Village a little more, but that's because I love Christmas, and that place can get you in the spirit in the middle of July, lol! Storyland is great for little ones, ours are 6 and 4, and they still love going there. Its so clean, and affordable to boot!

We also stay at the Red Jacket resort, its great, they have 2 pools, a playground, carriage rides, a barbeque a couple times a week, a kids' program, movies at night, and a great breakfast buffet every morning. We really enjoy it there, and its really geared toward families.

I think you'll have a great time, feel free to pm me if you want any more info!

We used to go every year to both Santa's Village and StoryLand. This year DD, aged 6, decided she only wanted to do Santa's Village and then go hiking in the mountains. Which we did and had lots of fun.

I like them both -- they are clean, friendly and filled with children of all ages. You'll have a great time.
