We just returned from our first visit to Beach Club and all we can say about Stormalong Bay is WOW.

We've read so much about the pool and how great it is. We (actually I) were skeptical. However, It really does live up to the hype. I'm not much of a pool person and usually am dragged to the pool by the wife and kids. This time I was as excited to go to the pool as they were. It has something for everyone.

I personally could have spent all day just laying in the Quiet Lagoon soaking up the sun.

If you have never been to Beach (or Yacht) Club and are considering it for a future stay I would Stormalong Bay makes it a MUST.

On the last day of our visit our kids got to meet Raouf who is sorta the kids social director for SAB. He had about eight kids building a sand castle and it was amazing to see him keep the kids in line. Think herding cats...

My kids also got to raise the pirate flag on the pirate ship with Raouf. What a great place...

I agree with you (as will most anyone who has been there!). We went in May and loved it.

We are going to Boardwalk in September, and I just read that the BW slide will be closed for renovations and that BWV guests can go to SAB!!!

When my wife heard that she started to :cheer2: :)

I "dragged" my DH for our first on-site stay 6 years ago. He picked Beach Club because of the proximity to Epcot and we found a slight discount. The kids and I "dragged" him to Stormalong Bay one afternoon. He said he was going to walk over to the water slide to "just check it out" for our DS then 9 and would be right back. Three hours later he finally managed to get off the slide and come back to where I was sitting. Huge grin on his face "This place is amazing!" and suddenly I was the Queen of Vacation Planning. That pool won him over in a big way. Next trip we went right back there. Following visit was to POFQ which was fine but the pool just wasn't the same. :sunny:

I am so totally in the minority here. I hated the pool..So, so overcrowded, and really did not see what all the hubbub is about.

My kids hated the sand on the bottom of the pool.. The slide was okay but no better than any other resort.

To say this pool is a waterpark is so,so much an understatement. How is it so?

oh and let us not forget you have to rent a tube to go in the I don't remember what they call it but launched as a lazy type river....

maybe it is just me or the time of year we went which was in August, but I was so under impressed. Our family could not find chairs, you had to rent a tube for such a small area.
the place was packed to capacity and you could not even swim.
Even the hot tubs were full of small children

I prefer the BW anyday anytime..
quiet pool is just that
and I can go into the hot tub any day or evening and not have a problem with 10 kids sitting in it unattended.

just my opinion folks
as you can see I am not a big fan of BC
and happy so many of you are, because it means I can always get a ressie at BW

I so agree OP! We spent our first stay at BCV in July and loved hangin' out at SAB...just a beautiful way to spend the day!

I am so glad to hear this( I also saw the Beach Club on the travel channel today and they should the Beach Club). From what I have heard and seen on t.v., I just know that I am going to love it!!!!! We are going to be there( at the Beach Club Villas) in 20 more days, we can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So glad you enjoyed your trip and SAB.

We love it also!

dejr_8,

We are arriving at the BC on Monday and I was wondering what the hours were for Stormalong Bay.

Thanks!

We stayed at the BCV's a couple of weeks ago and loved everything about the BC! MY DS (he's 8) loved the big slide at SAB. We spent a lot of time in the quiet pool though b/c they kept closing SAB due to afternoon/evening thunderstorms and once the stroms cleared it seemed to take them a very long time to re-open the SAB area. I think we definitely got spoiled by staying here and I'm almost afraid nothing will ever compare!! :goodvibes

My son and husband love SAB, but I hate it. It's just too small to have all that different stuff to me. Get rid of the sinking sands, get rid of the lazy riverlet (not really long enough for a river), keep the depth a little more standard (not 3' to 5' to 8' to 5' to 3'), lower the hot tubs so you don't have to climb all over the rocks to get to them, etc. SAB is just too much work.

I like TL, the wave pool, the lazy river, etc. But not SAB.

I prefer the Contemporary pool to SAB. Much nicer pool and not as crowded.

The hours were 9 to 9.

Make sure you take room cards for all the people in your party as they were checking to make sure you were a BC/YC guest.
