How does SAB at the BC/YC work. Does everyone in your party have to show resort ID to get in or can just one person carry their room key around when using the pool?

Yes- When we stayed at Beach Club last year we all had to show resort id. That was last year so I don't know if anything has changed-

Yes. We were there 2 weeks ago. They specifically asked for everyone's key card. However, I think they may relax a bit if your party consists of teenagers with no cards, or if you tell them you've guests.

I though I read somewhere that they are using some sort of armbands now?

From what I have heard youhave to show your room key then they give out armbands(at teh gate) They use to stamp your hands

The armband is made of yellow paper strip. They stick together at the end of the strip, and they're pretty sturdy. You cannot take it off w/o breaking it.

They check the key card not at the gate, but at where you pick your towel. My DH jumped right into the pool without the band at first. Nobody stopped him. But when I go to get towel, CM asked me and DH's key cards.

We were there last week. Armbands are various colors and types. They do check IDs when you get towels, but they also roam the place and look for people without armbands in the pool, sitting at tables or lying in chairs. They checked all our IDs and not just one. They check real good in the afternoon when more people leave the parks and hit the pool.

Everyone has a room key and that's what they want to see - teens, younger kids, older folks, everyone. The pool is reserved for YC/BC/BCV guests only.

They did ask a few people to leave when they couldn't produce the ID. They also have ways to check out your ID if you don't have one handy.

I was at BCV in July. The guards were checking as you walked in (through one of the fence/gate openings), but no one was checking when you asked for towels. I only had my card and that was OK -- no one asked to see one for my husband or the kids. When we went one night to swim I didn't notice any checks going on, but it was late -- 9:30 or so.

I did see a "skirmish" of sorts with a lady and her family. I couldn't overhear what was being said but clearly a guard had asked them to leave and she refused. A manager came back and conversation continued. She had ID -- it just must not have been for Beach or Yacht Club. After a long discussion, a CM came with armbands for them all. She won that one! I am so nosey I was DYING to hear the whole deal, but of course I am not sure exactly what went on! This whole affair made me think twice about ever trying to swim at Stormalong Bay if I am staying elsewhere!

I always wonder what they're going to do with a non BC/YC/BCV guests in the pool. I understand they want to keep the pool attendance in control. But it must be really tough to ask someone to leave once they're already in the pool, esp if they have couple of kids with them. (I would assume Disney doesn't want to make a scene).

Wouldn't it be easier to install doors with room key access only? And maybe have someone there to 'guard' it so people don't sneak in? It probably will work well with SAB's layout.

When we were there the beginning of July, I thought they were pretty good about checking ID's. Everyone was issued a neon colored band (colors varied during the week) to wear around their wrist, ankle, or where ever. The guards did walk around the pool checking to see that everyone had a band, and if they didn't, they asked to see ID.

They are trying very hard to keep SAB off limits to anyone but YC/BC/BCV guests and it makes a difference. We were there the week of July 4th, and we always were able to find lounge chairs without any problem. :):D:)
