We are now supposedly in the worst of the storm. Winds high, low rain. Power still on and hoping and praying it stays on. My friends 1/4mile down the road has lost power. We just came down into the basement to chill and watch some movies, I can no longer watch the news. It is so quiet down here wouldnt know a thing was going on.

Hoping to be able to leave and drive Thurs 2am down to the World roads permitting. Plan on drinking LOTS around World Showcase when I get there, n My nerves are a little

We are okay on power and internet here, but my mom has been out since 2:30. She and her partner and their cat are okay and safe, though.

Big tree in the back yard narrowly missed the house. It hit our back porch awning, but the awning is still up. Made a heck of a noise though. We thought for sure it hit the house. We're sleeping in the basement tonight.

We are inland in CT west of Hartford and still have power. Winds are forecast to max at 65 mph through the evening here. It is the coast of CT that is being hit the hardest with flooding and 75 to 90 mph gusts. there are presently about 250,000 homes without power in CT, mostly in the South East corner.

My power has been flickering for over an hour. The wind (upstate NY) isn't bad. Don't know if it will be worse later, but I would guess no more then 30 MPH gusts 10-15 MPH steady.

HOPE THOSE NEARER THE COST RIDE THIS OUT SAFE!

Winds are really picking up here just north of the border. We secured our outdoors a couple of hours ago and are hoping that the 100 km/hr gusts that are in our forecast here won't do too much damage. Can't believe the newscasts I've been seeing and so sorry to hear about the scariness many of you are living through right now. The pictures are seriously frightening. Stay safe everyone!

Getting worse. Hunkered down in safe area of house. Power out. Things keep hitting the house and lots of freight train sounds and whistling.

Just read the first victim was taken in Queens.

I'm on the shore in CT. We lost power at 5pm because the power company had to shut down the substations due to flooding. Everything is flooded and high tide is expected to peak around midnight. The news is saying that there could be 12 ft of water and then another 12 feet of storm surge. I just went outside and the rain has stopped, but the wind is still very heavy. At least it's warm; the temp is 63.

No power. Big tree down in the yard. Poor cell reception. My parents, MIL, and brother are all without power. Likely will be days before we have any. We are ok but scared. Thanks for thoughts.

Officially confirmed on news: Sandy has touched ground in NJ. Get to safe zones everyone.

See where the latitude and longitude lines cross just to the north west of the "H" in Halifax? That's my house....wind picking up a bit now but only forcast to be a wet fall storm at this point. No warnings of any kind yet.

Wall Street Journal just reported that lower Manhattan has flooded including the subway system.
