Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have been lurking for a while. You all have me convinced to buy a membership in DVC! We are about 99% certain that we want Wilderness Lodge as our home resort (stayed there twice and loved it), but would like to try out the Beach Club (never stayed there, but have drooled over the awesome pool area!) before we make the final decsion and jump on a waiting list. Anyway, does anybody know of any scheduled closings of Storm-A-Long Bay for maintenance or repairs (we will be going in January 2007)? Since the main reason for visiting Beach Club would be the pool, I want to make sure it will be open during our stay! We toured the Grand Floridian during one trip and their pool was closed for re-hab or something and the guests had to use other resort pools.

Thanks!

Not sure about any closing, but.....you said that your planned visit is January...which is the coolest month of the year at WDW. We stayed at WL this past January and hit a wonderful stretch of 75+ weather, but it could just as easily have been 45+ weather. I would hate to see you choose BCV simply because of SAB, and then have you unable to use SAB due to the cold weather.

The upside of WDW in January is fewer people and no hot/steamy weather, but the downside is possible cool temps and scattered closings of both pools and attractions.

Mousesavers and Allearsnet will many times have info on closing.

Could someone also please tell me if there is a "toddler" swimming area at Storm Along Bay? Our twins will be just under two when we visit. Thanks!

Yes, there certainly is a very large toddler area.

We were just there and there was a great area for my 3 year old grandson that was not over 30 inches deep with a sandbottom where they could play in the sand also.

There is also a water slide for young youngs. The main slide is built into a pirate ship. Just behind the ship is a nice minature water slide for the kids.
