Storing milk while traveling? Boxes of milk like juice boxes maybe?

The last 3 trips my little guy was still nursing so I didn't have to worry about how to keep his drinks from spoiling. He's 14 months now. We have 3 trips planned for this year...the first one being next week! :cool1:

He loves his cups of milk! But I'm not so sure how to go about traveling with it. Normally I would take a cooler in the car with a gallon then take it straight to the resort. But this time we're going to Daytona Beach for 2 days, Bonnet Creek for 2 days, then switching onsite. The first 2 parts of our trip our luggage is going to have to sit in the hot car all day long as we can't check in until later. I cant imagine it's not going to spoil.

Suggestions for what to do while traveling to all the different hotels? And what about the parks? How do you keep it cool there as well?

I did find milk in little juice type boxes last night at the grocery. It says on the label they don't have to be refrigerated. But I'm worried those might spoil in the heat as well. Have anyone used these?

I have used the milk in the carton from horizon and it's fine but can't say I have left it for long periods in a hot car. Would imagine it would be ok though. You could always contact the company to ask about stability.

Will you have your stroller? I would get the milk boxes or individual bottles of milk and put them into one of those lunch coolers and throw it in the bottom of my stroller. Either that or I would buy just buy milk on as as needed basis until I was fully checked in.

At the parks I personally would plan to buy the milk for snacks or meals. Depending how hot it is I'm not sure milk in a cooler would stay cold enough. So I would plan on buying it and just giving him ice water in between milks - also good for if it's hot out to keep him better hydrated.

We use the Horizon boxes during trips, too. I pack some in a soft cooler to take to the parks. I don't know about keeping them in your car, but the box does say it doesn't need refrigeration. I imagine they would be fine since they are shipped to the store in semi trailers which get very hot too.

Just wanted to add that I've never seen whole milk from Horizon - only 2%. So if you want to stay with whole you might just need to buy milk at the parks/hotel.

We use Horizon for our trips too. Trader Joe's has their own brand of shelf stable milk as well.

We love going to Costco and picking up a case of their organic milk boxes. They turn out ot be way cheaper that way. $14 for a box of $24. They have soy milk too.

has your ds ever had formula, its maybe worth taking some with a flask of hot water. failing that you could just buy milk at the parks.

hope you have a great holiday :dance3:

Be sure that you try the boxes at home before buying a bunch for the trip, DGS will not drink them.

I would just budget to buy as you go, You can find the small cartons or containers everywhere. Anywhere you have a refrigerator, buy a larger container in the gift shop or near by store. If you need milk late at night or early in the am, you can take a small cooler to refill with ice in your room. We have made a lot of stops along the way when traveling for milk everywhere from fast food drive ins to gas stations. We like to use the "disposable"" cups for travel. WE wash and reuse them most of the time but if we loose one or end up with one that sets in the car too long:headache:, you can toss them as they are not too expensive.

costco has a box with chocolate milk about 15 dollars for 18. Also geta thing called a dwink box I got ine at babies r us it hold juice/milok boxes so kids can't sqeeze them a lifesaver

I would take a run to the grocery store/gas station after checking in. If you don't want to do that, the food court sells milk in quite a few sizes.

While at the parks, I would just buy it as you need it. If you are going during the summer you might want to get him drinking water-milk and hot temperatures are not a good thing, especially when you add some rides-Tea cups.
