Storing luggage/groceries at resort before room is ready

Just wondering what current policies are since so much has changed and I can't really find anything on Disney's website.

We have an early morning flight May 9 and reservations at Coronado Springs. Since we have a group of 9, I'm looking at booking one of the van services that include a free grocery store stop or I may just rent a car and stop.. Will the resort hold our refrigerated grocery items until our room is ready? And they will still hold our luggage for us? What are their current procedures on these type of things ?

Thank you!

Yes, they will hold items requiring refrigeration and yes they will hold your luggage. It can be helpful to have your refrigerated items clearly separated and labeled if you can, just to avoid confusion or mistakes, which can sometimes happen.

The only material change to normal resort Bell Services operations is that Disney will no longer transfer refrigerated items between resorts. But storage at the resort itself is unchanged.

Hope that helps.

We were told they aren't holding any groceries, refrigerated or otherwise right now. Covid protocols I believe. They used to, but right now, no. Don't know if things changed, but I was told that a few weeks ago.

Nobody else has posted that. I wonder if the person you spoke to was mistaken.

I was there 1/14 to 1/19 and had groceries stored and were able to pick them up once my room was ready. (Pop Century)

I'd highly recommend using paper bags to package your food and making sure to separate frozen/fridge/pantry items. Bring a thick marker to write your name on the bag, mark "fridge" if it needs to go in the fridge and even write "bag 1 of 5" on the outside so you are able to help them and you account for all bags.

You can find a lot of information regarding storage of groceries on Disney's site - go to the hotel page, then amenities and then expand the mail services section. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/mail-services/

That's not what I was told when I called and spoke to disability services last week.

On the phone or in person?
At any rate, it's bad info. They will store groceries. Didn't stop
Unfortunately, some folks just don't have the right info to pass along, especially if you call to ask. Many of the phone operators have never stepped foot on property, much less stayed at a resort. Their training seems to be really lacking in answering questions. Booking rooms, fine. Knowledge of the operations at WDW, lacking.

They aren't transporting any refrigerated or frozen items from one resort to another, but they are still storing them if guests or delivery services bring them. As others above have said, the person who told you that was mistaken or confused.

It's good to hear I was told wrong then. Yes, it was by phone.

Where can I find info on van services with the grocery store stop.

TiffanyTownCar.com appears has vans.

FLTours.com does not appear to have vans.

MearsTransportation.com appears to have vans. Make sure you are looking at private transportation, not group shuttle service.

I wonder if you are at resort A moving to resort B. Can you check out of resort A, give refrigerated items to bell service, stay at resort to swim, eat lunch, etc. then pick up food and hand carry over to next resort? Crazy idea and certainly not for bags and bags of food. But what if you bought some expensive stuff, didn't use it and is willing to carry a bag or two on bus to resort B.

Good question. I haven't seen this asked before. Maybe people plan to spend their resort time on the moving day at Resort B, not at Resort A. I think people tend to book the nicer resort for the second part of their stay, so it feels like an upgrade rather than a downgrade. So I guess they would get up, hand carry their refrigerated items to Resort B, and ask Bell Services at Resort B to store the stuff until the room at Resort B is ready. They would hang out and swim at Resort B until the room is ready. And there's always the chance that the room at Resort B would be ready early in the day, so they could access it.

Yes, as long as you bring those items to Bell Services/Luggage Assistance at resort A, they’ll store them until you pick them up and transport them to resort B yourself. They still store cold things, they just don’t transport them. And be aware that you can’t bring full size luggage on Disney transportation - just the sizes of backpacks or shopping bags you’d have in the parks.

I don't see why not as long as the bags are not too large, and keep in mind there isn't resort-to-resort bus service you would have to transfer at a park / DTD.

Honestly, I would just rideshare and bring everything myself in this case.

I didn't think about the no resort to resort bus. However, this would work with some resorts like BLT. take bus to MK. walk over. Yeah lot of work for a bag of groceries.

Rideshare would work , but what about those using a scooter or wheelchair. Can one use ride share with them? I've never used rideshare before.

But it was what if situation.

Odd to stay at a resort to swim when you will not have a room to change out of wet clothes. Would make way more sense to swim at the new resort. Anyway, yes you can carry stuff yourself.

Normally no, ride share won't have a way to transport a scooter.
Taxi's do though.
