Has anyone traveled to DW and brought their frozen breastmilk? I want to have an extra supply on hand so I can enjoy a few adult drinks but I'm worried about how to keep it frozen. A mini fridge freezer won't cut it I don't think. We are staying at Port of Orleans French quarter. Amy tops, tricks or advice for this?!

TIA!!!

The mini fridge is not at all as cold as the freezer, or even the fridge at home. That being said my LC always said you could hold fresh breastmilk at room temperature for 4 hrs. Are you bringing your pump? She also suggested nursing just before you were going to have a drink, or waiting until your little one was down for their bigger chunk of night sleep or longest nap.

Remember to stay hydrated. Sometimes when my schedule was different-vacations, holidays, etc.-I would forget to drink water because I was busy and my production would take a hit.

How are you arriving? Can you go get a styrofoam cooler and some dry ice? I've never tried to keep anything frozen for a long time that way but have had some luck, especially if we wrapped things in newspaper and only opened it once per day

Glad I'm not alone, but I was wondering why someone would want to store it.
ME TOO! Whew, am I glad to know it's not what my mind went to.

I do know that bell services has a freezer to hold things as well. I haven't personally done this at POFQ, so I would ask on that board (andre is a wealth of info). I have traveled with it frozen and just kept it in a really tight cooler with tons of ice but the dry ice suggestion is probably better but that was only for a day. Another option, if you are pumping now, you can start to use your frozen supply and build up your refrigerated, if I remember correctly....it's 5 days. Its been awhile! So then you could take your 5 day supply of refridgerated instead of the frozen. Hopefully that made some sense.

OK, that is NOT what I thought "BM" meant. LOL.

Count me in ........... my brain actually went as far as thinking ziploc bag or tupperware OR maybe tupperware inside of a ziploc bag ........ before I opened the thread. I have never considered saving mine but not sure what it means that I didn't blink that someone else wanted to save theirs.

To OP ~ unless you get lodging with a legit freezer, (not POFQ), I would probably just do as others suggested, pump there.

Heh. As soon as I saw "BM" I knew what the thread was going to be about, and knew unless that's been a part of your world, most would have no idea what it meant. :cutie:

In my experience, the mini fridges are not very cold and I wouldn't want the hassle of trying to bring dry ice, or even worrying about a cooler filled with ice and everything being the proper temp.
I would either bring a pump and pump earlier in the day (whatever time your supply is best) or just nurse the baby right before you consume the adult beverage. I found the best part about traveling with a nursing baby is that They are much more portable, I didn't have to lug around snacks and baby food. Lugging a pump and bottles may not be worth it.

I nursed, and I wouldn't worry if you have a couple adult beverages. Nursing is way easier than pumping!
This. I wouldn't pump or bring milk. Unless you have a bitty newborn, there is no reason you can't have a couple drinks and nurse at any given time. :) I wouldn't worry.

I went while nursing years ago and just pumped in the afternoon before 'happy hour'. I always enjoy drinking around the World at Epcot, but those beers that year were the best, lol. It was the first time I'd been able to relax enough to have a drink since the wee one was born.
