I had seen somewhere - and now can't remember where - that someone had mentioned storing their 12 X 12 paper in one of those Iris carts in the bottom part using hanging file folders. Does anyone use those and if so, what size of folder do you get? I was shopping this past weekend and doing some looking and either I am a total dunce or something is wrong. I just can't figure out what size would fit the 12 X 12 paper.

Thanks

and as I don't really know because I went from the Crop in Style Paper Taker to the Target Cubes- i did not reply -
but seeing as obviously noone else knows -
I remember reading somewhere (2peasinabucket.com or creatingkeepsakes.com)
that you have to make your own using 2 regular size folders.
taping them together.
Sorry to not be able to help more!

I dont know anything about hanging files but I did find file folders 12x12 in creative express mag. they are 11.99 for 24 pretty high but you know how supply and demand works. you can go on line to www.creativeexpress.com It is from making memories and the item # is 35-1542 or you can request a catalog

and on your origianl question I think your best bet it to go to
www.twopeasinabucket.com
I am sure there is a thread somewhere covering this - or start a new one and you will get a million responses (but watch out some will be odd and some sill be just plain scary - lol!)

Patty T Another baby how wonderful for you.:crowded: the house gets smaller as the family grows larger. Look at all the things you get to scrap again. You lucky girl.

Good thing we are building a new house in the Spring Rvoto ;)
I am scared to death - being child number 3 there are only a handful of pictures of me - HOW am I going to keep up!
I have been thinking about premaking the baby book so I can just crop matt and pop pictures into it -
but I don't know if it is a boy or girl so I am not sure if I will attempt that yet ;)

Patty most of my pictures are of my youngest . she only has a few first year photos because of a severe case of depression but now she is over taken the books. Don't worry as see it by the time they are grown they will all have pretty much the same. Premaking a book is a great idea. I am so excited for you. I have 5 total and I am so blessed. The two oldest are my Stepsons I always said that there mom was nice enough to give birth so I could just enjoy them.

Congratulations Patty!!!, I think I said this before on another forum, but not sure if I completed it, I get interrupted a lot by DS's. Wishing lots of health and happiness

To cruise04, I was just looking at my memory makers magazine (Jan/Feb issue p47) and it shows a mobile hanging file cart that has a section to hold reg 8 1/2 X 11 folders and another section for 12x12 folders. It also have a slef below the folders and 2 wire baskets below that that slide out. It s sold at Staples for $29.99, the 12 x 12 hanging folders are from Leeco and Making Memories, I saw them on the making memories web site. I couldn't find a site for Leeco.

I have my 12x12 papers stored in hanging files in those "milk" crates you get at the office supply store. Notice, they're not square...they're oblong. If you look inside, there are runners down the sides...in one direction they are for regular size folders, for the other they're for legal size folders. The papers do stick up out of the crate, but to keep them from bending over, I have cardboard backers behind the paper in each folder. I have 2 crates side-by-side on a middle shelf in my office/storage system so they're easy to pull out and thumb through the papers.

I got this idea from my LSS after lamenting I had no good way to store my paper, and I didn't want to lay it flat...too hard to go through. The owner said that was how she started out...before she went "professional". She even gave me the cardboard backers from the last order of papers she'd gotten in....she saves them just in case anyone needs them :)

I have a 12 x 12 filing cabinet by Making Memories(they have since discontinued it)! I waited forever to get it, but it really is not made too good, but it sure does store alot of paper! I cannot get folders for it anymore(also discontinued!) but you can make them using a legal size folders(2 for one).

Hope this helps a little!

I bought a wire mesh drawer type thing at Home Depot yesterday for my 12 x 12 papers. There was a 7 drawer option and a 10 drawer option. I opted for the 7 drawer due to $$. The drawers are $8.67 each and the frame to hold them was $29.99 for the 7 and $34.99 for the 10. The drawers are larger than 12 x 12 though. My DH thinks that this will eventually annoy me as the papers will "float" around. They are 17 x 21. Maybe I will put a small box of something along the short end, to keep them from going back and forth when I open the drawer.

I did think about doing the file folder thing, but hadn't thought of putting two together to get the 12 inch size I needed. Also was concerned about the paper "flopping" around at the top.

WOW.... what a great idea for someone looking to make some $$. Invent a great filing system for 12 x 12 paper!

I did see something like a portable, expanding file for 12 x 12 at my local walmart scrapbook department, but it was $15 and wouldn't hold even a small portion of my large collection. I was figuring I would have needed about 5 or more of them. And they didn't seem particularly sturdy.

Thanks for all your comments. And Congrats Patty!!!!

I think I might have read that one time on two peas but of course, I couldn't remember where I read it.

Just a quick update on the wire mesh thing I bought at Home Depot. IT IS GOING BACK TOMORROW! After banging the thing together with a mallet, it still didn't hold. The directions were terrible, and it was missing a small part. Not exactly what I had in mind for almost $100!!! I guess I'll keep looking for the right system for me.................P

Sorry it didn't work out so well -
But I think you should be able to find something that does for a LOT less money!
Did you not like the Target Cube idea? Its cheap :)

I got the cart shown in the Making Memories magazine at Staples, but have had a hard time finding 12 x 12 hanging file folders by Memory Makers. None of the scrapbook store or Michaels carried them. I finally found some at Create for Less website (all one word for website). Whey were approx. $8.00 for just 6 of them. They also have a 24 pack of 12 x 12 folders that were about the same price, but they did not hang in the cart. I will probably buy some more because I have a lot of 12 x 12 paper.
