Since i am planning to go to disney around halloween and being inspired by the secrets thread i thought i would ask if anyone knows of spooky stories, tales of ghosts and such or strange occurances in Disneyworld.

The secrets thread had a story about a ghost in Pirates of the Carribean named George. A maintenance worker who now haunts the ride and CM's must say goodbye to him when they close the ride or problems arise with the attraction the next day.

I know my fellow DIS'ers won't let me down and I'll have tons of spooky stories to tell come this Halloween.

The only strange occurance that I know of is that when I arrive at WDW I have loads of money but when I leave it's all gone!!!!:p :bounce: :bounce:

Just kidding! I don't know any but I hope someone has a story or two!

i heard something about old scratch in its a small world ;)

Master... welcome back home :)

Great topic! Can anyone elaborate on the story of George, the ghost at POTC?

Someone once told me that people occasionally have mentioned to the CM's working at the exit at the Haunted Mansion that the ghosts have talked to them. One mentioned a ghost appeared in their car at the ballroom scene and asked, how they liked the ride, that type of thing, and they didn't think anything about it, they thought it was part of the show. Supposedly, the ghost was someone who had worked on building the ride and had died. Sounds like an urban legend to me, but I like the story anyway!

Spookier than a ghost story, because it's real-

We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour in November. The guide told us that when they turn off the HM at night, it can take a while for the fluid (or air, can't remember which) to drain out of the audio-animatronic figures. So sometimes CMs working in there all by themselves in the middle of the night doing maintenance will suddenly have a spook move!

Every time I go through Small World I imagine being alone in there at night. Brrrrr....

I think George was killed at the Pirates while it was being built. A beam or pilar fell on him.
I've also heard the story about a guest who was killed at the HM. He climbed out of the doom buggy to get to the Maddam Leotta display and there's a deep space before it and he fell in it and broke his neck.

A young mother died (cancer, maybe?) leaving behind a husband and son of about 8 years old. The family's favorite place to go was WDW and their favorite ride was HM. They always rode it as their first ride of the trip and the last ride.

After the mother's death a grieving father and son went to WDW. The son brought a picture of his mother. The son asked a CM at HM if he would please place his mother's picture under one of the dinner plates on the table. That scene was his mother's favorite. The CM agreed and informed the cleaning crew to place it under a plate and to leave it there after each "dusting."

On the back of the picture were the words "We miss you and we will love you forever."
Now whenever the son and father visit WDW, the HM is still their first and last ride of the trip and every ride they say hello and goodbye to their dear wife/mother.

Bev,

I was all set for you to say the ghost that hitched a ride in their car was the mother.

I have also encountered the disappearing money phenomenon along with an extremely swollen credit card bill the month after our trip.
