Stores that price match?

Target will price match almost any store and if you use their debit/credit card you get 5% off on top of the price match. I use it for best buy, walmart, amazon, etc. I do most of my shoping at target now a days due to the price matching. You do have to go to guest services to price match and they look up the other stores price on an ipad to check it.

Why bother with the price match? Just buy it from Amazon or whatever online retailer is selling it for less. Plus by buying stuff online I don't have to pay the 10% sales tax.

Because like @auralia said, some stores like Target will price match and offer you a further discount off that lowest price. Or, you may have gift cards to that store that were given to you, earned, or purchased at a discount, which you can use to further reduce your out-of-pocket cost. Also, many states now require online retailers like Amazon to collect state and local sales taxes. And fyi, sales taxes vary based on locality and are not 10% all around.

The one time I tried to do a price match at Best Buy, the clerk acted like I was stealing the money out of his own personal wallet. After a long wait, I did get my $2.00 or whatever off, but it was such a waste of time and a hassle that I've never bothered to do it anywhere else since. I just order or buy at the place with the lower price where I don't have to wait in line at customer service.

Why fight traffic, pay $15 to park at the Target by my house, and deal with lines and multiple people you have to talk to get the price match??? It is much easier for me to shop on Amazon.

In some states (most I think) if you don't pay the sales tax online at time of purchase, you are supposed to pay it when you file your taxes anyway, so it's not a savings ....

I guess it depends on which associate you get. I got one that did on Saturday. An add on for Disney Infinity was $2 cheaper on their own website.

maybe they finally updated their policy. We were get an getting an Ipod for our kid a few years and went to the store to get it, based on the price on their website. We got to the store and it was $20 more. When I asked about the price difference, I was told that prices aren't necessarily the same between web and store and they don't PM their website.

So if Target.com, bestbuy.com etc had it for $20 less they would have PM'd, but since it was Walmart.com they wouldn't.....made no sense at all to me.

They did update that policy. I remember when they wouldn't match their own website and I would order items from the website to be picked up in-store even though the identical item was on the store shelf - just because it was a bit cheaper on the website and they wouldn't price match. But now they do. It's in their official policy and you don't even have to go to customer service or get a supervisor. Just show them the website price on your phone and any cashier can price match it. Nice and easy - like it should be - finally. :)

Sears and Staples will match plus an additional 10% (as long as the item is in stock wherever you are matching from)
