Storage suggestions for 9ft Christmas tree - anyone seen any deals for bags?

Hi,
I finally found a good deal on a tree this year at target with a lovely 75% off. The one problem is that the box is a bit banged up. We put the tree together to make sure it worked so I could return it if it did not. So now we have a lovely tree but it won't really fit back in the box and it's super heavy. So... I was wondering if anyone had seen any deals online for a storage bag (the ones I found on sale were only for up to 7.5 ft trees) or if you had ideas on what to put it in. I thought about trying to find a cheap hockey bag because those are big and sturdy.

Thanks,
Gretchen

Does it come apart at all? Ours is a 7ft and we use a larger Rubbermaid container for it. We have been storing it that way for 10 years and it works great. The branches do come off of our tree so it makes it alot easier. I don't know of any bags big enough to accomodate a 9ft tree.

It may be easier to use 2 of the bags for smaller trees - especially since they weigh so much! That is what we are doing for our huge 12 ft tree.

We have a 9 foot tree. Its is so massive. I am still trying to get used to it even this year. We have a cathedral ceiling in our living room so it does not look too out of place. But it is still overwhelming to me.

We use the box it came in. It is just too heavy to even lift into our attic so we just leave it in the garage. Can you tape the box up or find a bigger box, maybe at the UPS store or something like that, a packing store etc? Like Mailboxes etc. I dont know but does Lowes or Home Depot have any special order stuff on line you could look at etc.

Our 9ft tree never fit back in the box it came in! I get it in there best as I can and also leave in it the garage. No way to get it to the attic. I have an old blanket I throw on top to keep it completely covered.

Ours is an 8 foot and really fat. It also wouldn't fit back in the box.

It is a 3 piece one, we cut a hole in a large rubbermaid tote for the bottom of the trunk to stick out and just gorilla tape that container to death to keep it from exploding lol It looks awful but it is sealed and because it's a tote, stacks easily with other things.

We just bought one of the plastic tree storage boxes at Walmart for $30. Ours is a 9.5' and I wasnt sure it would fit, but it did. It has wheels too, which is really nice.

We have a 9 ft tree as well and have it in a bag, but I have to say I like the idea of breaking it up into 2 bags. The weight of it all in one bag is a bit much. We got our tree as well as the bag at Lowes 75%off but 2 different years. We couldn't find a bag the year we bought the tree, had to wait until the next year.

We have a 7.5 foot tree that "lives" in the attic/crawl space most of the year. We split this into 2 bags because 1 bag was just too heavy. I would reccomend using 2 bags.

We've wrapped our tree (with non-removable branches) in trashbags and duct taped it closed before...

Thanks for the suggestions.

MaidMarian, did you buy the storage box at the a Walmart store or online?

I think we may try to save the box and maybe hope to find something to put it in next year during the sales. It's a really nice tree but I didn't quite think of how much more space a bigger tree takes up.

I bought a tree storage bag at Bed, Bath & Beyond for $16 (used a 20% off coupon). It's supposed to fit a 9ft tree. Ours is 7.5 feet.

We have a 10ft tree and use three large Rubbermaid storage containers for it. They all stack nicely in the basement, and because they are in a water-tight container I don't need to worry about dampness affecting the branches.

In addition, because we don't 'smash' it into just one or two boxes, the branches stay pretty nice and require little adjustment when we put it together the following year.

I bought it at Walmart. I dont see it on the website. It has a clear bottom and a green top with red handles. Sorry, not sure of the brand, my husband took the sticker off. I'm guessing its about 15" high by 20" wide by about 5ft long

We have a 9 ft. tree split into 3 rubbermaid-type rectangle boxes (55 gal. I believe). They stack up under the basement stairs and I don't have to worry if (heaven forbid) water gets in the basement. Pretty much anything of value is in rubbermaid containers (christmas ornaments, etc.) in the basement. Rubbermaid containers stack up nicely, and I label the boxes with masking tape.
