I need storage ideas for our camper. We have a 1987 28 foot 5th wheel ( no slide) we had a hard enough time finding space for stuff when we went camping for 4 days for the 3 of us. we are going to the fort and will be gone for at least 14 days in april. there is only 1 half closet with 3 small drawers for clothes. there is a decent amount of storage in the kitchen area for utensels and dishes but the fridge is tiny. Hubby said to use totes but there isnt anyplace to put them without use tripping over them, and then there are my daughters toys! we are getting a new camper with my inheritence but we wont know how much and wont get it until the spring, i think. any ideas?

Don't know the layout of your 5th wheel, but before we upgraded to a 35ft TT w/ slide, we had a 29 ft. TT w/out a slide. We are a family of 5, including the three kids. We had bunks, so on the end of each of the bunks I had one of those plastic things with the drawers in it for the kids clothes, toys, shoes, etc. If you don't have a place for those inside the camper, they could be set outside when you get there to keep some things in. Also, the collapsable(sp?) mesh-type baskets are good for many uses inside and outside of the camper. We have never done this, but we have seen people set up a tent outside their camper for storage.

the layout stinks! lol queen bed over the 5'ver next a walkthru bath with the top closet and 3 drawers.plus tiny storage under sink, living room and rear kitchen. My daughter sleeps on the pull out table bed, because she moves too much to sleep on the small couch. we use the space under the table to store our chairs and other bigger items but there isnt much more useful storage!

You mentioned your tiny frig, we purchased one of the electric coolers from Wal-mart that we keep outside of the camper for our drinks and anything we can't fit into our inside frig. We put it on the back of the truck next to the back sliding glass for the road trip so that we can run the cord through the window to plug it in; also, easy access for the kids to get a drink without us stopping. BTW, when we ordered our new camper, we upgraded to the biggest frig we could get and I love it, but we cook a lot and always use the extra cooler. It also saves on trips into the camper for drinks.

For the half closet, if you can get buy without hanging clothes, you might can get the stackable baskets to put in there or one of the things with drawers that would make better use of the space and keep it more organized.

I'm sure you don't want to spend a lot of $$ since you are planning to purchase a new camper in the near future.

The electric cooler from Walmart is an excellent idea. We have used ours for several years, and like the previous poster, run it on the trip down (for drinks, sandwiches, etc) then set it outside the camper and use it for drinks and oranges.

I would plan on doing laundry while I was down for that length of time at least once. That will cut down on the amount of clothing you bring.

I would suggest bringing a tent, then bring what you need in plastic bins and drawers and put it in the tent. The bins and drawers can be on beds, etc. for the drive down.

How about limiting the toys and using one of those "pet net" things that everyone used to have for stuffed animals for her toys? You can put it in a corner hanging up. Would keep things out of the way.

Taking things like cards to play with also would help with space, they're small. My IL's keep several games in their camper for people to play when they're out camping.
