We will be driving from Northern Virginia to Orlando in July with four kids (3, 5, 10, 11) and have made reservations at a Holiday Inn Express hotel off 95 at Savannah. Can anyone tell me some things to do in Savannah for an afternoon and evening?

Have you guys thought about stopping at the DVC Resort in Hilton Head for the one night?

Strolling river street is cool. They have little shops to browse and there are usually street performers around. They also have city tours done on open & closed air busses. The town is full of "squares" that the city was built on. It's a pretty historic place. You can even see where they filmed the scenes from Forrest Gump. The ones where he's sitting on a park bench talking with people throughout the movie.:hippie:

If it were me I would be going to Lady and Son's for dinner. Their dinner buffet was fantastic. Though you have to make a reservation in person first thing in the morning, this may or may not be doable.
