Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

mickeystoontown:
I grew up in Texas and remember Canton very well! When I read that I could taste the rock candy - yum!

I'm enjoying your TR very very much! Keep it coming!

Once the Jamminators finished their last song, we made our way through the crowds and over to the Electric Umbrella. If you read my first trip report, you'll know that I made some....how do I saw it......odd memories from our visit in 2008. For those of you who haven't read my first trip report, let me tell you I had quite a time there. My crown fell out of my mouth, bounced across the table and I had to super glue it back in my mouth. Yes, I super glued my tooth back in!

Ahhhhh, memories! :lmao:

We get to the Electric Umbrella and it's not very crowded. The kids found a table for us and John and I stood in line for our food. For the life of me, I can't remember what I ordered. Wait, I take that back. I ordered some kind of salad. Lacey and John ordered cheeseburgers and Hunter ordered a hamburger. Hunter got a cookie for his dessert. I got a fruit bowl. Lacey got a brownie and John got a cheesecake. The food wasn't spectacular but it was good enough to quiet our growling stomachs.

While we ate, the kids said they wanted to ride Mission Space again. We finished up and I went back over to Mission Space to get Fastpasses while the rest of my group shopped in Mouse Gears. I can't remember the exact return time but I believe it was about 2 hours later.

I get the Fastpasses and call John to see where they are in the store. John was looking for a new pair of Crocs but couldn't find any in his size. The kids were wandering around in the store somewhere so I called Lacey to tell them to find their Dad in the men's section and I'd look for them there. I found them pretty easily and we kept together while we shopped.

I found a really cute wallet. It was black with Mickey head silhouettes which are in a shinier type thread. I need to take a picture so I can show you guys. I almost didn't buy it because it was $21.00! But, on our last trip, I had searched everywhere for a wallet and couldn't find one.

Lacey found a bracelet in the "go green" section which was really cool and it was only $6.00 which to me is a steal in Disney. I don't remember what else we got but it was enough to get the Disney watch promo that they had going. I got the ladies watch for about $12.00. I'll have to look through my receipts to get the exact cost. We paid for everything and sent it to resort package pickup. To me, package pickup is one of the best things Disney has ever come up with.

Shopping trip done, we decided to walk on over to Ice Cool Station and get a sip of both the yucky and the yummy flavors. Last trip, they didn't have any of the watermelon flavor which is our favorite. We were hoping that it was back.

I took a couple of pictures of the kids jumping with Spaceship Earth in the background. It took several tries before I got a couple of good ones. I love 'em:

100_2191.jpg

100_2192.jpg

It was pretty busy inside the Ice Cool Station but we stood back and watched a bunch of guys who were in their early 20s. It must have been their first time tasting because their reactions when they tasty the Beverly was priceless. Before long, a station came open and we were able to start sampling. We, of course, knew the Beverly was yucky but, dummies that we are, we tasted it anyway. :confused3

We still had some time to kill and Hunter wanted to go on Spaceship Earth so we walked towards the front of the park. When we got to Spaceship Earth, the line was really really long so we decided to skip it and come back later.

100_2196.jpg

Since we were near the bathrooms, everybody made a pit stop.

Here are some pictures we took while wasting time. We were squatted down on the ground taking these pictures and got some odd looks. Like odd looks are going to keep us from taking pictures.;)

Lacey and I. That was the only day I wore those sunglasses.....they didn't fit worth a hoot.

It was nearing our time to go back to Mission Space and use our Fastpasses and we really didn't have much time to do anything else. So, we decided to just go on over and wait. Of course, I had to take a picture:
100_2201.jpg

We found a place to sit and we people watched. I have said it before and I will say it again.....what the fruit are some of these people thinking? I am not saying that we are the most fashion forward people but at least our most private parts are covered up. I can't say that for some of the ladies that I saw that day. I don't have the biggest bust but even if I did, I would haven't them all puffed out for the world to see. My goodness gracious! There was major cleavage viewing going on that day.

Soon, it was time to use our Mission Space Fastpasses and we went on in.

*****Okay, I'm going to stop now. I need to go freshen up the makeup and comb my hair before John's parents get here.

Lovin the report so far Lisa! It's like I'm there! Can't wait to read more. I hope you have a great time at the flea market. We've always wanted to go, but Mom doesn't think she'll be able to walk it. Looking forward to more! popcorn::

Great update, Lisa!!

I'm so happy to hear that you liked using Garden Grocer!! We are planning to try them next trip.:goodvibes

I'm loving all your pictures at CBR!! It's such a beautiful resort-- it's no wonder you don't want to stay anywhere else.:thumbsup2

Garden Grocer was one of the best decisions we made when planning this trip. It was so nice to have somebody else buy my groceries AND bring them to me.

We're on the DDxDP - ready?
Breakfasts:
- Supercali @ GF
- Akershus
- Tusker House
- Ohana @ Poly
- Chef Mickey's @ Cont

Lunches:
- Earl of Sandwich (this is a maybe)
- Coral Reef
- Picnic in the Park (another maybe)
- 2, 3 or 4! open with no ideas (MK day, HS day & our two travel days) - feel free to help me out!

Dinners:
- Cinderella's Gala Feast @ GF
- Sci Fi Drive-in
- Teppan Edo
- Yak & Yeti
- MK day is open... again, feel free to help me out!

My goodness! That's a lot of eatin'! I am anxious to hear your dining reviews. We have thought about several of the restaurants you have on your list.

If you're still concerned you can also duct tape them into the bed;)! My band director used this trick with us on trips too. I heard of some people getting around it, but being the good girl I was I never did. (No, I was the one scalping the Disney tickets that still had 2 days on them on the senior band trip!)

Too funny!

I really enjoyed that update. All of the pics of CBR reminded me of the great choice I have made for October! :thumbsup2 I am thinking of trying Garden Grocer for this trip also-the less I have to carry the better! Looking forward to the next update!

I truly think you will enjoy the CBR. It's absolutely gorgeous! Garden Grocer is the way to go in my opinion.

Okay, Lisa, I have some serious catching up to do! Between back to school and never being able to get on my computer due to the kids doing homework every night, I am behind! But tomorrow, I intend to sit on my behind and get caught up!

Just didn't want you to think I had bailed on your report!;)

BTW, just got to the pound cake thing, was it Grandmother Paul's Sour Cream Pound Cake? I have made that several times and one time it did sink like that in the middle. Its dense but oh so good! Just curious lol.

I know what you mean. Hunter has been back in school since August 17th but we're still getting back into the school/study mode.

The pound cake was, indeed, the sour cream pound cake. Even though the cake fell in the middle, it still tasted good. I just wasn't giving it to my boss as a birthday cake.

You guys look like you had so much fun! I can't wait to read what's next. Now that school has started (both my teaching job and my next Master's class), I'm not on here very often, but I'll keep up when I can!

Still REALLY loving the CBR photos...I need to send the link to your report to my family that's traveling with us!

We do have a lot of fun together. As with all families, we sometimes irritate each other but not too much.

I sure hope that school is going well for you. I know it's hard getting back into the swing of things.

Definitely send your family the link to my pictures. They really don't do the resort justice.

Wow Lisa. I just love your pictures. They are totally encouraging me to stick with my plan of getting up early to do my "running" (which I haven't done the last two days). I can't wait to see POR so early in the morning. I'll have to take my camera one day (of course Missy's pictures of POR are pretty hard to beat!)

That picture of you is a great picture. I loved it. I'm really critical of pictures of myself too, but take our word for it. It's lovely.

I love EPCOT. I can't wait to hear about your day. Just 15 days left. I get to do Online Check-In on MONDAY! Sweet! :)

I love walking around early in the morning when a lot of guests are still sleeping or getting ready to hit the parks. It's so peaceful.

Thanks for the compliment on the picture. It's hard not to be critical of yourself.

I know that you are getting more and more excited about your Disney trip. I know I would be. Soon you'll be down to single digits.

Finally catching up with this thread. will have to check back in the morning since half of the photos aren't showing up. :(

So glad you had a great trip! :thumbsup2

I now have two photobucket accounts set up because I keep exceeding my bandwidth. Hopefully, you can see most of the pictures.

I love the ones of Lacey and Hunter jumping!!!!! :yay: the shots of you and Lacey; and John and Hunter! you have wonderful memories!!!!
you have some really good shots going again; glad you were able to find a wallet this year and a watch, too! great job!
hope you dinner was relaxing...and ya'll have good weather for ya'll travels...

One of the best things about your TRs is how much fun you guys have as a family! I'm so glad you didn't let strange looks stop you. I'm also glad your tooth stayed in your mouth this time! :lmao: I was thinking about putting my super glue with my trip stuff just today (but I always remember when I'm in the car or something...somewhere that I can't just go do it right then).

I can't believe you guys went on Mission Space twice in such a short time span. Will is tall enough, but I'm not letting him go. Christian probably isn't tall enough (I'm SO hoping that he will actually be right at 44"-though I kind of doubt it-so he can ride EE, but I'm not letting him do Mission Space anyway). Too many scary stories about that ride with younger kids. When they're older, like your kids, then maybe. Mission Space doesn't scare me at all and I don't mind doing it, but I don't really enjoy it so I usually just skip it. Matt is really the only one that likes it. I don't know if he'll go by himself or not. :confused3

You've spent a lot of time in Future World. Are you saving World Showcase for another day, or have you just not gotten there yet.

BTW (I meant to say this last time and forgot), Will has that same shirt that Hunter is wearing. I loved it when I bought it, but he spilled something red on it that I can't get out now. Oh well. ;)

Hope you were able to enjoy dinner and have a fun time tomorrow. Our only plans for the weekend are baseball practice...every day.

I hope your dinner went well with the in-laws! I know how they can be. (Generally, my MIL is great, but since Conner was born... welll... & my FIL never speaks, so it's hard to gauge how he is.) Enjoy the swap meet/flea market thingy today!

I loved the jumping shots of the kids in front of Spaceship Earth! I wonder if I can get 5 grown kids launched in December, it ought to make for some interesting shots! Thanks for the idea!
Really enjoying your report!

Great update Lisa. Love the pix of the 'jumpers'. Those kids of your sure know how to have fun. Enjoy your time in Canton. Was I wrong in thinking Longhorns play Monroe tonite? I could be. I did get to watch the Missouri game today. I have done nothing all day long. It was great. Now I'll have to clean house on Monday. Oh well, I enjoyed my day off.

Ginny

Loving the TR! I had a question, did you keep a notebook you wrote everything down in to remember for the TR? Did you write in it nightly? Trying to decide how to do mine in a few weeks

OMG, I love those shots in front of Spaceship Earth! Reminds me of High School Musical...:rotfl::rolleyes1 I really wanted to take a picture like that when we were there...

I apologize that it has taken me so long to respond to everybody's posts. I'm on my way to do it now. And, I'll be posting another trip report installment sometime today.

Good morning Lisa. Gee I'm gone one and 1/2 days and miss 3 pages. Love the update. That pic of you is so good. You look so natural and relaxed. I agree with Connie you really should frame that. Don is like you tho. Since the Bell's when he smile his mouth does this crooked thing and his eye droops a little. He always trys to stand and face a certain way so it doesn't show so much.

Hot Springs is sounding pretty good at this point isn't it? I know we are doing nothing this weekend. We've have so much going on for the next 3.

I did get Sheri's bd posted on my thread. I was so tired last night. I am actually going to go take a nap before I have to go to work.

Have a really good day. I think that boss needs a sit down talk, as does mine.

Ginny

I always try not to smile too big because then my face draws up more. I do like Don, I try to stand a certain way to make it not so noticeable.

I so wish we had gone to Hot Springs this weekend. Even if it had rained some, we would have still been away from home and together. Oh well, I am sure we'll go camping before it gets too cold to go.

Tell the boss to GO BACK TO COURT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your pictures are great. I think our oldest is buying us a new camera so we can get better pictures.

The bossman just doesn't understand my Disney obsession. That's okay though.....most people don't. :confused3 That's why I love the Disboards so much.:thumbsup2

Lisa, you do such a good job of storytelling. I could "see" you guys everywhere you went, even though I haven't been to Universe of Energy in forever (we're going this time at some point. Christian is studying dinosaurs at school this week, so we're hitting every dinosaur-theme we can find!).

I'm glad John was better after he woke up. It's so hard to have someone mad at you at Disney. My dad was just diagnosed with Type II diabetes in May. Any time his sugars get low he gets in the same kind of mood. It usually takes a just a minute to figure out what the problem is, but sometimes he doesn't want to hear it. Hopefully we won't have this kind of thing happen ourselves.

Sorry you missed the "orange smell" but glad you got on Soarin and Mission Space so quick. I'm upset about Living with the Land being closed too. We love that ride and Will really likes it. He's going to be disappointed. At least we're lucky enough that TTA will be open again. It was supposed to open Tuesday, but now they're saying the 12th. They'd better not push it back anymore! Space Mountain and LWTL is enough to miss!

Looking forward to the rest of your day. I  EPCOT!

The dinosaurs at Ellen's Universe of Energy are cool. Don't forget to go to Dinoland at Animal Kingdom.

John's medications control any "full blown" seizures. But, he still has facial tics and switches sometimes. It's just when his medication levels get low or he gets too stressed out or tired. I guess I didn't pick up on what the problem was because there was so much stuff going on me. Once he kind of sits back for a minute, he's usually okay. It's just tough keeping my mouth shut and not fire back some kind of retort. That only aggravates the situation.

I didn't even realize that Living With The Land would be closed. I thought I had looked at the refurbs list but I guess I missed that one.

I sure hope that the TTA is open when you get there. There's just something about it that we like. Don't know what it is but we do.

Thanks for the great update!

You're quite welcome!

Good updating as usual. I am sorry John was having a bad morning but so glad it got better for him. Heather is right, Type II diabetes does sort of the same thing. When mine drop too low I break out in a cold sweat, have no idea where I am and become very incoherent. I normally keep peanut butter and crackers around. Or a snicker bar which doesn't work well but tastes really good. (just kidding).

I love Soarin. I love the front row the very best. Like you, afraid of heights but for some reason being in front I don't feel like we are so high. Also like Sunshine Seasons. I do believe everyone in my group got naps in at Ellen's show too.

Thanks Ginny. You don't have many "episodes" do you? Thank goodness John doesn't. I think it was a combination of worrying about the wreck, the time change and maybe a stimulation overload that made John go off like that.

That was the first of John's naps. It became a running joke this vacation. Where will Dad fall asleep next?

Hi! I came over from your last TR which I liked so much. You are so entertaining and have such a great personality. This TR is shaping to be as good if not better than your last one.
All your pics of CBR are so making me want to upgrade from movies! But I'm pretty sure DH doesn't want to spend the extra money. Anyway, I actually really want to see the ASSMo so I know we will like it. But I am thinking for sure that next time we will try a mod. Now if we were somehow offered a free upgrade to another resort we would not turn it down! :)
I am another one who likes LWTL ride. It will still be closed while we're there (also Flights of Wonder and Space Mountain - sigh [I know, it's value season]). But I have always wanted to do the Behind The Seeds Tour. I wonder if it would be any different with the ride not going? I think we will do it anyway though since I've waited 20 years to take it.

I'm so glad that you decided to come over to this report too and I appreciate the compliment. We are usually a pretty fun family to hang around with. Boring, for the most part, but fun.

I understand not wanting to pay the extra money to upgrade to a moderate. I think if we had tried a value resort before staying at the CBR, we would have been okay. But, we got used to the little extras at the CBR.

The Behind the Seeds tour is really neat. We've done it twice and it was interesting both times. I don't think it'd be affected by the ride being closed. Definitely worth the money.

Wonderful update. You know when we rode Soarin' in March, I never smelt the oranges either.

I've ridden Soarin' numerous times and this was the first time we didn't smell it. I was a bit disappointed.

Hey Lisa, Just another weather update for the Hot Springs area. I just wanted you to know the temps are still low, noon was 68. But we have 60 percent chance of rain everyday of the weekend. So, it probably was a good thing you didn't come up here! :) First football game is tomorrow night and I SO dont enjoy watching them in the rain. I'm a band mom and I just go to a band concert and a football game breaks out before and after my concert!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: My son that is 17 next Thurs,(:scared1:) is on the drumline. I am so loving your TR. Im starting to plan our trip for spring, and it is so fun following a trip while planning one!! Dawn

You did make me feel a wee bit better that we didn't go to Hot Springs to camp this weekend. It's always so pretty there even when it is raining.

I absolutely love the drumline. Those guys and gals are always so awesome.

Odd...very odd! :scratchin

I'm always amazed at how quickly they move people through these lines! I agree that it helps if you put on a smile! :)

What?? No orange smell?? UGH! Did you smell the pine trees in the forest scene?

This is exactly why Jeff is not allowed to bring his work phone to Disney. I know he can't NOT answer it or check his email or voicemail....we give his assistant and his boss my cell number and his phone stays at home. It works like a charm! ;)

One of my favorites!! I'd be disappointed if it was down too. :sad2:

Yep... I remember it well.

This is a tough one for me too...sitting back and keeping my mouth shut is not my strong suit! :rotfl: Good for you for being able to do so!

Go back and object or something.....Can't you see Lisa is updating! :lmao:

Now that I think about it, I don't remember the pine smell being very strong either. We did get that "water/fresh" smell when we went over the water though.

If John weren't self-employed, then the phone would be a no-go! When we left home, we had some guys installing the cabinets for us. We were afraid not to answer the phone. Being self-employed has it's perks but it's downfalls too!

Yay!! Another update!!

That was very strange that you were let out in the middle of the parking lot.:sad2:

You didn't smell the oranges? Ahhh...I love that part!!

So sad the Living with the Land was down.:sad1:We were so disappointed that we weren't able to ride it this time too.

Looking forward to more.:)

We have NEVER been let out in the middle of a parking lot before. Needless to say, it was strange.

I always look forward to riding Living With The Land and was disappointed when I saw that it was closed.

Another great update! :goodvibes You must have a great memory, your details are so great that I feel like I am right there with you.

I totally understand about your DH and the meds. My DH is on 2 different medications daily for seizures. After years and years of changing meds I think we are on the right track now.

Can't wait to hear about Electric Umbrella. Hope it wasn't quite as eventful as last year!

I rely a lot on my pictures to recall exactly what we did during the day. But, my boss does compliment me a lot on my memory. ;)

I wouldn't wish epilepsy on my worst enemy! We have to change John's meds up at least once every two years or so. It's a constant process. Right now, he takes 6 different meds. I am glad to hear that your husband is doing well.

Oh Lisa - God love you for having the strength and willpower to handle such an uncontrollable condition in the man you love. (I loved the John & Lisa Plus 2 comment!)

I have to say that I see 100% you in Lacey and that Hunter is that perfect 50/50 child that has a little bit of both!

Glad to hear the update end on a happy note with a happy John!

Epilepsy will test your mental strength, I will admit. I pray about it each and every day.

Awww, you made me smile with your observations of my kids. They are pretty special if I do say so myself.

Still here and enjoying your report! :yay:

Yeah! Thanks for sticking around!

WHAT?! The bus driver just let you off in the middle of the parking lot??? That is so strange!

Soarin is such an awesome ride. My mom, who normally isn't a thrill ride type of person loves it. Bummer you didn't get the orange smell! We were also surprised that Living with the Land was closed...we did not see that on the WDW website at all under refurbs. :confused3

Needless to say, when the bus driver stopped in the middle of the parking lot, we were all sitting there with dumb looks on our faces. That was a first forus!

I'm glad to read that I am not the only one who missed the Living With The Land rehab on the list.

Hope you have a super weekend Lisa. I'm doing nothing and liking it that way. Football tonite. Did you ever get Hunter fixed for a team? I hope so. There is nothing like watching those kids play.

Ginny

I'm sad to report that there is no football team for the private school Hunter has played with the last 3 or 4 years. There is simply not enough boys the right age to put together a Tackle II team. I wish I had known this about a month ago because I could have signed him up for another team. Hunter took it pretty well. He's disappointed though.

We always had football get-togethers at at our house. I am thinking about getting all of the players together and having a weiner roast next month. At least that way the boys can all still get together and have a fun time.

How'd the game go?

I totally hear you about men taking forever! my dbf does the same exact thing- every morning- in the same order and if i try to hurry him up he gets all discombobulated and says that i'm runing his routine!:lmao: I just prepare for it now and make him get up before me since he takes way longer!

Men always talk about women taking a long time to get ready. Yeah...right.

I'm with you on Soarin. It was all I could do to not scream when we were being lifted, and I was white-knuckled thought the entire ride, but it sure was beautiful! Made me miss Palm Springs soooo much!

I was so happy that I didn't have to sit in row 1 this time. Row 3 didn't take us up so high and I enjoyed the ride more.

Subscribing!

I love your TR, Lisa. I read your last one, too, as a lurker. Your family is beautiful and I love all of your pictures. We stayed at CBR for the first time in July and loved it -- can't wait to stay there again. We would be staying there next month for MNNSHP but they didn't have rooms available for the two nights we needed.

I was a paralegal for 12 years -- and you are totally right -- it's not the way it looks on TV! I hated, hated, hated billing time. Ugh.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know I'm enjoying your TR!

I am glad you decided to come over for a read and actually post instead of just lurking. I absolutely love hearing the thoughts of my readers.

Isn't the CBR just gorgeous! We instantly fell in love with the place 4 years ago.

Are you of the paralegal business now? I always say I want to be something else when I grow up but I have too many years in it already.:lmao:

really quick let me wish ya'll a fun safe road trip!
and have a great dinner tonight...enjoy yourself
we are not doing much this weekend and we are going to eat at my parents house tonight...
later have a great weekend!:wave2:

Thanks girl! Dinner was okay. Of course, they found something to complain about at the restaurant. I told John before we ever went there that they wouldn't like the place. Ugh!

Hope you had a good time with your parents.

mickeystoontown:
I grew up in Texas and remember Canton very well! When I read that I could taste the rock candy - yum!

I'm enjoying your TR very very much! Keep it coming!

We went to Canton a few months back and had a good time although it was hot. We wanted to do something this weekend and since John didn't want to go camping, we decided to go to Canton again. We had fun. Didn't buy a whole lot but we had fun.

Lovin the report so far Lisa! It's like I'm there! Can't wait to read more. I hope you have a great time at the flea market. We've always wanted to go, but Mom doesn't think she'll be able to walk it. Looking forward to more! popcorn::

We took my 75 year old mother with us this trip. We had to take it slow and take a couple of breaks but she had a good time.

The kids were all about jumping around to get a good picture. I told you they are total posers!
