Stone crabs to go?

I've been hearing about Stone crabs and I really want to try some.. My next visit will be at the end of the season but maybe I can still find... This is a solo trip so not sure I want to go to a fancy restaurant to eat. Thinking it may be fun to just get some to go and relax and eat on my patio.. Can anyone recommend a seafood market or something near WDW that I can get some? I do have a car

Since Disney restaurants don't do to go orders (nor can I think of any that serve stone crab), I'm moving this to the Orlando board as the offsite regulars and locals would be in a better position to answer questions about restaurants off Disney property.

Our Publix carries stones in their seafood department. You could start there. Don't forget the mustard sauce.

Is there a Publix near WDW? How is the quality?Buying seafood at a grocery store kinda gives me the willies......

Just curious, could anyone here describe the taste/texture of stone versus snow, king, or blue crab? Is it ever served warm? I developed a shellfish allergy before I was able to try it.

Fulton's at DownTown Disney always has stone crabs during the season. They do not take the Disney Dining Plan, so I imagine they would be happy to pack up stone crabs for you to take out.

Fulton's offers their stone crabs with yummy sauces, including a cilantro one that we love.

I know you said you didn't want to go somewhere fancy so let me suggest Johnnie's Hideaway. They have their tiki bar area which is very casual and relaxed. I think they even might have an all you care to eat special on the stone crab one night a week. I've never been myself, but I know a couple of guys who work there and some friends of mine go there for happy hour on a regular basis.

The original place for Stone Crabs is Joe's in Miami. They ship anywhere so you might try to get some delivered to you. They just aired a "Man vs Food" about Joe's that you can probably search on Hulu.

They are AWESOME!!!! Get a mustard sauce and you won't be sorry!!

My Mom used to schedule our WDW vacations based on the Stone Crab season. My mom used to get them to go at Fulton's all the time. Definitely try them with the mustard. Yummy!!
