Our local TV station has a story about a woman whose Mickey yard ornament was stolen. She is a Mickey collector and wants to get this stolen Mickey back. I thought I would alert you all just in case someone might come across it being sold somewhere online. Here's the article:

and part of the article:
"Mickey memorabilia fills the inside and outside of her home. It even adorns the front of her shirt. So it's no wonder she was upset when her three-foot-tall topiary statue of the famous mouse was stolen from her front yard.

The statue was a Mother's Day gift from her son, who lives in Seattle and knows how much she loves Mickey."

There are pictures on that page. Also, there is a phone number to call at the bottom of the article if anyone has any information.

I have a garden statue of Pooh. And this is exactly why I won't put it outside. I know it would be gone. So he is hanging out on my porch with a door that locks.

Sorry for her loss,
Winnie

that is so sad - hopefully she finds another or it's returned - now thinking about pulling mine inside I would hate for them to be stolen

I am the "former" owner of the stolen Mickey and as sophomoric as it sounds, it truly is heart breaking. My son, who is referenced in the newspaper article and both TV reports, was a Disney College Intern. He graduated from FCC with degrees in Hospitality and Culinary Arts in June 2002. His Dad was killed 8-3-2002 by a freak bolt of lightning on a sunny day; no rain; one rogue bolt. Lee subsequently “needed” to leave this area; memories were just too painful. He had applied for the Disney College intern program in the spring and was accepted. All of the pieces were falling together for him - finally. The program was the best thing that ever happened to him; it gave him a “place” in the realm of his new life. Since then he has ended up in Seattle (he is still waiting for that special “call” from Mickey!) but Disney is in our blood! He is fortunate to be a College Representative for the Disney College Program. We spend every Christmas-New Years at the Boardwalk; no real need to have Christmas here in Frederick! Therefore, when he gave me Mickey this year for Mother’s Day he was so proud; it was probably the first gift he had ever given me that HE bought with his own earnings! In addition, it was such a surprise; it truly was treasured! Like I said, it sounds sophomoric but it cut to the core that someone would have such little respect as to walk right up to my home and TAKE IT! In addition, there are at least ten other smaller statues in the garden, not even ATTACHED to the ground; that Mickey was IMBEDDED in the ground with iron stakes!; and they took HIM!

Bottom line; thanks for caring; Disney people are the best in the world!

Well, Sue, I don't know how you managed to find my post here about your Mickey, but I'm glad you did. This is a good group of people and maybe one of them will come across your Mickey. I hope he comes home soon!
