Have you ever had the contents of your mail stolen? :sad1:

DS received what should have been a box of legos from Lego today. Unfortunately, the US Postal service left in our mail box a ripped open box held together by a rubber band. The legos were gone but the note that came with the legos remained.

Should I send the box "as is" back to Lego (asking for another set of legos), or should I take it to our local post office to complain?

Thanks for any advice,
Pamela

Yes, I have. I do a lot of online shopping and I had ordered underwear/panties online. Well, when I got the package, inside was one set and the other one was missing. Now I wash everything beforehand, but this was another thing. I called the company and they refunded my money and sent me new ones.

I haven't, but that's just wrong. If that continues, I'd pay for a post office box.

I got the box-cuttered out address from the box of souvenirs I shipped from France. It made it to the US just fine b/c the postage was missing as well. I imagine France wouldn't waste their time shipping a box cuttered piece of card board.

It had the appearance of a ransom note when I got it. I filed with the post office and got nowhere with it. Have not heard anything about it. Somewhere someone has made off with some lovely souvenirs.

Actually it just sounds like the box was damaged badly, probably by another much heavier box. Unfortunately, that does happen. When it does, we do try to get what we can find left on to the addressee. It does let them know that something has happened to their package. They probably found it by itself in a hamper. The contents were probably scattered earlier on, and just not caught. Do let your local USPS supervisor know, and definitely let the company know. They may not be using boxes of a strong enough nature.

My babysitter had her christmas ck stolen out of her mail box on a busy road. Signature was forged and cashed in another town about 30 miles away. Bank said there wasn't a whole lot they could do about it. Even the store where it was cashed - didn't do anything about it. It was one of those fly by night convenience store that cashes cks as a curtesy (sp?).

You'll likely get further by going straight to Lego with the problem. Not that the USPS won't deal with the issue, but I doubt they are going to try to locate the legos for you.

I was sent an envelope with a check in it once and it never arrived at it's destination. I was basically told by USPS that "there is nothing we can do about it, it was just an envelope."
