I was at Pittsfield's Colonial Theatre recently, attending a reading of David Sedaris with "the girls".
The "Norman Rockwell Museum" was mentioned in conversation. Oddly enough, this morning I was thinking of visiting the museum soon as I was told it was wonderful.

I googled the Main St. event but was disappointed in the lack of photos from previous years!

This event coincides with Ptown's "Holly Folly" weekend, an event I've wanted to attend for the past several years.

I may leave this decision to a coin toss! ;)

Stockbridge is a very pretty town, but to tell you the truth, Main Street is very small. There are ony a couple shops there with the main building being the Red Lion Inn.

Not sure I would plan a special trip for it.

One place I do love that is fun around the holidays is the Yankee Candle headquarters in Deerfield. It is huge, beautifully decorated with a nice restaurant, little cafe and always some sort of entertainment on the weekends.

Hope this helps!

It's not expensive, by any means.

I just found this via google, a restaging of "It's a Wonderful Life", in Seneca Falls, N.Y.

There's always the "Christmas Story" house and museum in Columbus, Ohio. I'm dying to go there as "Christmas Story" is a great movie!

My kind of place!

I went to "Yankee Candle" once. It was a feast for the eyes but VERY crowded!

Now, on to Deerfield itself. I had the priviledge of viewing recently taken photos online of Deerfield. What a beautiful, historic town!

I had no idea it was loaded with so many antique, quintessential New England houses set on quiet, beautiful grounds!

I just didn't think about the town in that respect. One hears "Deerfield" and thinks of "Yankee Candle"!

As a previous poster stated Main St is very small. the Norman Rockwell Museum is a MUST DO. It is Awesome!
