Stitch's Great Mistake

Horrible. Just plain Horrible

Just got back from a fantastic Disneymoon where my DW had not been to Disney since she was 11. I had been many times since then and had expereienced Alien Encounter when it was up and running and really liked it.

I can't say I wasn't disappointed when I heard that it had been changed to Stitch but I figured it still would at least be worth going on.

We went on and I didn't tell my honey anything about the previous ride and just let her experience it. To be honest I was looking forward to her screams a bit when she got tickled across the back of her neck by stitch.

We got off the ride and she looked at me and said "Wow.. thats the worst ride in the park.. what was it trying to do?"

I sat her down outside of the ride to explain the original concept of Alien Encounter and how they modified it to be more "kid friendly"

They made it kid friendly.. I guess... as long as the children aren't looking for it to make any sense what so ever.

So in my and my wifes opinion Stitch's Great Escape is the only bad ride in the park.

Any one else share similiar thoughts?

I don't want to spoil what limited plot there is for it. The plot is horrid compared to AE, Stitches animations and actions where just stupid and they took the best parts of AE and took it from some nice suspense and made it into childish jokes.
Again.. just my opinion.

Wow. I am really sad to hear that it was a letdown compared to Alien Encounter. Dh and I had our honeymoon in Disney for a week in 1996, so we experienced Alien Encounter and it was so cool (and scary, but fun scary KWIM?LOL) We are planning a trip in early 2006 and I am sad to hear Alien Encounter is gone.

I would describe it as "cute". A far cry from AE.

My DD was so scare to the alien, and she really liked stich's ride, she's not so scare because i guess is stich.

I had no idea what to expect on AE and I'm a HUGE chicken, HUGE. Previews for scary movies on TV just about do me in. Well we did AE and I was scared to death (like the previous poster said, fun scary) and my heart was racing and I was sweating. DH turned to me and said "what on earth is on your face, you're blue!" I was so scared during AE that I held the MK map to cover my face and with my sweat got the map wet and I looked like a smurf! What a doofus!

I don't care for Stitch anyway but the kids are dying to try it this time around.

Didn't find it as horrible as the OP, but I wouldn't do it again. Even my 8-year-old was bored.

Our 10 and 7 year old girls said, "That is the stupidest ride ever." The younger one was gagging when the chili dog burp occurred. I really thought she was going to get sick. They have made us promise they don't ever have to ride it again!

In my opinion, "Stiches Great Escape" was the ONLY bad ride in any of the parks. I enjoyed "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" more than I enjoyed the Stitch ride. Ride? No, It's more of a joke!

It's horrible.I really don't see why tons of people would wait in line of that? Last time I went there were 90min lines for it. I don't it's worth it even with Fast Pass!

Disney should really reconsider the "ride".

I was SOOOOO disappointed when they changed Alien Encounter. It was SO fun! I wonder why they did it? Seems like if you change something, you would UPgrade, right?

My trip in '99 I did AE and loved it, thought it was great. loved the suspense when the engineer came in above your head to fix something.

I am going to do stitch this trip just because everyone says its so bad, and I wanna see how bad it is

We loved AE and were unhappy to hear it was being made into anything else...We gave Stitch a try and even for kids we found it very LAME..My DGS and DGD who are 8 and 6 did not even care for it. An exact quote is can we go on something not boring now Grandma....

This was the first thing we did at MK in April. When we were done, we couldn't believe it was over. There has to be something more to it?
It stunk. Bigtime. Worst Disney attraction ever.

It really is pretty bad. A couple of small children were scared and crying so it was probably too dark for kids sensitive to the dark. For the rest of us it was "dark---then noise---then gross smell---and over. That was pretty much it. Maybe they will re-rehab it and make it better.

I'd give it a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1-10.

We thought it was entertaining. The only thing the kids & wife didn't like was the chili dog burp (it didn't really phaze me). We waited in line for about 30 minutes (without FastPass). We'd do it again, but not if there's long lines. Time is too short at the Magic Kingdom for that!

What's nice is that WDW can offer different things to different people. We (myself, DW and DD - 5) love the Stitch ride. It's entertaining to us and different than the usual rides they have. Our DD especially likes when Stitch jumps around in the chamber and the pre-shows leading up to the ride.

Fast Pass is the way to go with this one. The outside queue looks pretty miserable and I wouldn't want to wait more than 15 - 20 minutes outside.
