Stitch's Great Escape... what the heck was that?

Hi,
we are on our first trip to WDW and went on Stitch's Great Escape. Um... huh? :confused3 What was with the height requirement & restraints... the room didn't move.... at all! Not once! Not even a teeny bit! To me this seemed an entire "ride" based on a stinky burp and a spray mister. Am I missing something?

They keep trying to use what they have to make it a successful ride. This time turning Alien Encounter into Stitch's Great Escape.
I think they should just tear it down, start from scratch, and actually make an enjoyable ride...

I am one the very few on this board that actually likes the Stitch ride. I am unsure why I like it, but I do.:confused3

The immersion effects (sounds, air, smell, bounce/hop, etc) are delivered to you via the over the shoulder seat restraint.

In regards to the attractions, it was much much better when it was Alien Encounter. Unfortunately AE was not very kid friendly.

The show that occupied that room when WDW opened was a Disneyland clone called Flight to the Moon, and it was slightly revised in 1975 and renamed Mission to Mars. Both shows were awful and already outdated when they opened.

I don't think that Stitch's Great Escape is all that bad. Is it an E-ticket? No, but then no show that occupied that space ever was, and probably no show ever will be. But the show is cute - better than Alien Encounter, and the Stitch Audio-Animatronic figure is excellent. I do think that AE's pre-show was better.

Wasn't a big fan of AE,dislike Stitch even more, gut it and start over.

That space is cursed and doomed. They need to tear it down and completely start from scratch.

My whole family said the same thing. We were really disappointed with it.

I agree the ride is pretty pointless--Stich deserves better. Just a theory, but I think the height requirement is as much about keeping smaller kids who can't handle being in the dark out of the show as any real "safety" issues. Every time I've been in there, it seems a few little ones have a meltdown when the lights go out. Which is the real shame, a Stitch ride should definitely be a family experience, given the message of the original film.

I agree......both myself and DH agreed this is a waste of space......we went on this ride once after it opened and never again (4 trips since then)....I say start over.......it was awful!

We waited 45 minutes (in the hot sun!) for Stitch during the soft opening and have never been back again. We all thought it was a waste of our time. I agree with the people who say to tear it down and build something good there.

The restraints are in place to keep visitors from fleeing from this awful attraction!

My 5 and 8yo boys were begging to go on it again. So it does have a fanbase, albeit very limited. :upsidedow

I was reading in my UG (it's from 2007) and they said that this ride was horrible!! My DS5 LOVES Stitch, but I don't know if I want to put us through the terrible-ness of this "ride."

Opinions?

This rides equivalent is this(if you want to experience it at home)--- sit at home in the complete dark and listen to your cat walk around the room. Then for the grand finale have the cat come up and pass gas in your face.

What a complete waste! Tear it down and start over!!

Yes, we will definitely be skipping this "ride"

I wonder if the Imagineer who thought of that ride still has a job??

I agree with DVCJEN. The animatronic Stitch is pretty amazing but in order to experience him you have to be pinned to a non-moving chair in the dark while he tortures you. He sneezes on you (mist of water, though my imagination was running rampant at that point and I was convinced it was snot), burps chilidog on you (the most heinous smell on earth), jumps on you (your harness presses down - claustrophobic, anyone?) and generally makes you second guess any decision you make for the rest of the day.

If you are on your own, go ahead and try it (you were warned) but I would avoid it if you have kids.
