I'm going to WDW in July and am bringing my 2 nephews (age 10 and 6) as well as their sister (also 6). My niece tends to get scared easily (went on Snow White once and refuses to go on again) so I'm wondering about the new Stitch ride.

If anyone has been on it recently can you give me some insight as to what to expect. I've read some reviews, but most of them just tell me that they expected more from the ride.

Thanks for any help.

hmmmm

I don't know if its "too scary" or not but here is what happens.

You are being trained to work in the "jail" of the future...you enter the chamber (after a couple of pre-ride holding room mini-shows) and sit in a theater style room with the action clearly in the center below you. Part of the seat comes down over your shoulders (which actually has the sounds and other 4-D effects built in - so that is the only purpose of the harness) and Stitch is "transported" into the holding tube in the middle of the room. There are the DNA weapons (like in the movie) that chase him around after he, of course, escapes. There is about 20 seconds (maybe longer) in the dark where Stitch bounces around the room (making the harness move up and down as if he were jumping on the back of your seat) and other things happen while he is away causing trouble (smells and spritzs of water hit you, etc). Finally, the lights come back up and all is well.

I would say that this ride would never be considered scary to most 6 year olds. A lot of today's techno kids find it boring from what I have read here, however your niece sounds like an exception. My 2 and 4 year old loved it and I am sure we will ride it again. I simply reached out and held their hands during the dark parts.

If you are really unsure, skip it for this trip. No sense ruining a good time by her getting scared.

Have fun!

I haven't been to Stitch, but did go on Alien Encounter. The room gets very, very dark. There are special effects that make it feel like Stitch is right behind you.

I am worried about taking my 6y/o even though he LOVES Stitch. It is such a shame they made a kid's attraction so scary! The Unofficial Guide recommends kids under the age of 9 might be very scared.

One of my students returned this week from WDW, she is 10 and said the attraction was kind of scary, but really dumb. This seems to be the common reaction I've heard about it.

It has gotten lots of negative reviews, but my children love stitch and think it was great. Every child is different.

DD5 went on Stitch in early January. She enjoys watching Lilo & Stitch (just finished watching it -- AGAIN) and had difficulty choosing between Stitch and Mickey as the stuffed toy to take with her to WDW. (She eventually chose Mickey.)

All that said -- she kind of enjoyed Stitch's Great Escape. I took time to prepare her for the experience. She finds Stitch (the character) to be funny and doesn't think Stitch would ever hurt her. DW and I sat her between us so that she could hold our hands during the darkness. (she did.) She didn't find the experience to be frightening. The question she asked afterwards, "Why did Stitch burp?"

Now the rides she did find frightening -- Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, HISTA, and Dinosaur. Stitch was just fun for her. YMMV.

My husband and I went in Nov and we didn't hear any children crying etc like some people have said in old threads.
BUT, if your neice is affraid of Snow white I don't think I would risk it.
I didn't like it and thought it was kind of stupid but my husband liked it.

Last month while at MK, I had to take my 4 year old daughter out of the ride. We got in and she seemed okay at first. Then it gets PITCH dark and Stitch is not really funny, he is scary! She started screaming and crying, so the CM let us leave asap. My 8 yo. old and 10 yo. daughters stayed with my husband and were fine though!!

When we went in Dec my sons loved Stitch (9,5,&4), but my daughter,7, was scared!

We didn't have to leave the ride b/c she didn't cry or anything, but after it was over she said she never wanted to go on it again. She loves Stitch, but it was the unknown that scared her.

When it gets dark and Stitch is loose and she didn't know where he was going to show up. That what really freaked her out.

We ended up splitting up when sons wanted to do Stitch again. DH went with DD to Buzz and I went with sons to Stitch, then we switched. It actually worked out great for us!

he did say it was scary. He grew up at WDW and is more aware of the scarier parts now. He did say that we will go in Stitch again.
