Stitch / Alien Encounter

Hi (first post for me) -

Going back to the world in December with a 7 yr old (he was last there 4 yrs ago). He's a big Lilo and Stitch fan.

I went thru (survived?) Alien Encounter and wouldn't take any pre-teen in to that attraction. My heartrate was up and I just kept saying "special effects... special effects" to keep myself calm. The bodybuilder next to me was white as a sheet when the lights came back on (bigger they are, harder they fall).

How scary is the new Stitch Alien Encounter? Too much for a 7 y/o?

Also, my older son (14 y/o) is upset that he will never see the original Alien Encounter (he's a huge Alien/Predator fan). So the flipside of the question is how much is he really missing?

The new Stitch attraction is a lot like the old Alien. They have changed Stitch since it first opened. Now you hear lots of kids laughing. Try it and I think you will find it ok.

Stitch is not even close to being as scary as Alien Encounter was. Neither one of these rides was great, IMHO. Stitch is really bad and Alien Encounter was just way too scary.

If he's a big Lilo & Stitch fan, he might like it (though Lilo isn't even a part of the ride, all you hear and see is 626 and the two alien guys that dress up as tourists, and maybe Cobra Bubbles but I don't remember exactly) - but you don't need to be worried about being scared. It's more disgusting than scary (Stitch burps on you and you can smell the chili dog on your clothes for the rest of the day)

We never saw Alien Encounter, but we saw Stitch a few weeks ago and our family REALLY didn't like it at all. Now, we (me, DD's 9 and 11) were really worried about being scared and the fear of being scared loomed over us and the uncomfortable harness didn't help much. But, nothing happened at all except lots of pitch blackness, noise, and the infamous burp. It was not up to Disney standards at all - honestly, we thought it was a big nothing. But, there were kids SCREAMING and WAILING in the dark during our experience. We didn't hear much laughter, and we heard lots of comments about how lame it was as we left. I will sing Disney's praises all of my days, but I will never understand Stitch's Great Escape... ...sorry, I thought I was finished with my Stitch rants, but I guess it's been a bad day and I am using this thread to let off some steam! Even though I sound negative right now, I do think everyone should try things and form their own opinions - there are SOME positive comments about this attraction on these boards as well as the negative, so read them all!

We saw it for the first time last month. Me, DH and DD14 thought it was HORRIBLE and we were very disappointed in it!!! DD16, DD10 and DD8 liked it! (Never saw Alien Encounter, but Stitch wasn't scary at all)

I didn't ever see Alien Encounter , But Stitch
is not scary at all. Me and the kids just didn't get it. I'm glad we only waited in line10 mintutes. At the end of the
day we seen the wait was up to 45 minutes and knew the
people in line were wasting there time.

We all thought the Stitch ride was totally lame. But, we did hear (in the dark) cries of "Mommy I hate this ride" "Mommy I want to leave" and one CM let a family out.

Stitch was definitely lame. A very long line for a very short and horrible ride. That burp smell was truly revolting!!! I don't think your youngest will love it that much - it would probably actually be a little disappointing since there's not much Lilo and Stitch feel to it, even though the ride is all about Stitch. Your oldest son will be very disappointed, as it pales in comparison to AE. Disney really bombed on this one!
