Is there any way to snorkel stingray city or sandy bar (I've heard that isn't as deep) by yourself? Is it close to shore or do you need a boat? what about for kids?

It is quite far off shore, and all of the stingray areas are very shallow because they hang out on sand bars. It ranged from waist to chest deep when we did it, and you are given snorkel masks and float vests. It was very cool...I definitely want to do it again when we return in Jan.

Anyone done it with another company? Disney looks like it will only allow 6 and over and we were thinking of taking our dd 4. Unless it might be too rough for her?

We're on the 10/26 Magic and I just booked my 3.5 and 5 yr old along with us at Captain Marvins (www.captainmarvins.com I think). I emailed with them prior to that and asked about young kids. They said they've been doing it for years and their life jackets go down to 4 years old. DD might fit in it, but we'll probably rent another just in case.

Ruth was the lady I was emailing with - she was very helpful

Good luck!

U need to go by boat its pretty far off shore but its soo much fun if u aren't afraid of stingrays cuz they aren't shy and they have a bucket shrimp so u can feed them
