We are cruising in March. I called to make reservations for this excursion and was told its not available because of hurricane damage. You can go to Blue Lagoon but not stingray city! Anyone else heard this? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I don't sail till May so maybe it will be fixed by then. I heard that this was a very worth while trip.

Well, I can give you a review. We did this excursion last year. Note: it is not "stingray city" as the title of the OP says but is "stingray encounter". I think this is an important note because I have done "stingray city" in Grand Cayman and this is NOT like it. Anyway.....You walk down the pier with the rest of your group to a boat. You load onto a double decker boat with plenty of inside or covered seating (this is important if it is hot and sunny out). There is some commentary as you travel to Blue Lagoon. I guess the boat ride is 30-45 minutes long. When you get to Blue Lagoon, you have time to play in the water (it is a lagoon and so there are no waves), shop in the gift shop or read under a palm tree. Then, at a certain time, they call for the "stingray encounter" people to gather. You then hike for a ways (it seemed like a 10-15 min. walk but I had two small kids with me so it might have just 'felt' long) and get your snorkel equipment. You walk down metal stairs into the water. It is a really large fenced-in area but is deep. You will not be able to stand up. There are lots of stingrays and they are not afraid of people and you can swin down and try to touch them. After a while, they will bring out some squid and show you how to feed the stingray. It is pretty cool to feed them! My 5 year old was unimpressed and alittle scared. He spent most of the time holding onto us or sitting on the stairs. My 8 year old enjoyed it. I can't say how long they let you swim with them. I remember being ready to get out when they called us to get out. You then walk back to the beach area and not long after lunch is served in an open air building. We had chicken and rice, I think. I remember that I liked it. They also gave a glass of yummy fruit punch. I remember the fruit punch the best. You have a choice of a couple return times. We took the early one (1:00?? 1:30??).

I hope this helps!

Bump -- because it seemed like folks were looking for info. Be sure to read my review of this excursion above.

Wow! Thanks, Jwann! When I looked up excursions under the 3-4-day cruises it was called Stingray City and Blue Lagoon Combination Tour. At least I thought it was!

Anyhow, your review is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for the info. I think my 7 year old will enjoy this and it will give us something to do in Nassau, IF it is available in June!

We did this excursion and all enjoyed it. Blue Lagoon is a very scenic little island and the swim with stingrays was enjoyed by all including my DD age 6. The managers would occasionally bring the stingrays over to the steps where you enter the water so people could easily feed and pet them, really cool, the stingrays are huge. People were allowed to stay as long as they wanted. It was rough the day we were there but the snorkeling was still fun.

Lunch was nothing special but satisfactory, we got a lot of beautiful pictures that day. Across from the stingray area climb down to the beach there, you can't swim there but is great for beach pictures and just relaxing on the beach.

The swim area had crystal clear water.
