Because they're not getting it that means they're paying for it? I really don't understand that leap of logic.

Taxpayers for pay it. I see it as a tax refund for those who pay taxes. Not everyone can get the refund, so they pay for it, yes.

I have to wait for mine to come by mail, because even though I file taxes, I don't get a refund so they don't have my direct deposit address. The weird part is that I do get social security via direct deposit, I'm not sure why it still gets mailed. Since we have a postmaster general that according to the constitution should be in jail for intentionally taking action to try and destroy the U.S. Mail Service, it gets delayed. Kind of makes one all warm and fuzzy inside.

1st stimulus-via check in the mail

2nd stimulus-via the awful debit card (i almost tossed it b/c it looked like a junk mailing)

3rd stimulus-??? anyone's guess

Social Security has nothing to do with the IRS. They systems are completely separate. I read on CNET that there is now a way to put your DD information on file with the IRS if you don't get a refund.

social security was supposed to share this information with the irs and they must have done it with some but not all recipients b/c my young disabled adult son has never provided the irs with any banking information (never had any taxable income) but receives SSD through direct deposit-he got his prior stimulus money through direct deposit.

Everyone with a federal tax burden is going to pay for it. One report had it at $57,000 per household that pays federal taxes.

No Soup for me. I am one of the 15% of households not worthy of stimulating the economy.

Its great that you make the amount of money that you do not qualify for it.But I know it sucks you see almost everyone else getting one and it’s going to cost you more than the people who get one. I get it but wish they would stop giving them out. It’s getting out of hand. The second one where we got 600 dollars that was enough money for every American including the ones who made too much to get it could of got 5 thousand dollars a piece but we got 600 dollars and not everyone like you didn’t even get the 600 dollars. It’s really sad. Of course I’m going to take mine I’m not going to turn it down but wish it didn’t get pass.
My son got laid off last year because of covid. What did he do he got a job that paid 4 more dollars a hour with better benefits.

I think if would not have claimed them they would have gotten the stimulus.

I think that you have to initially qualify for the stimulus to receive money for your college students who are claimed as dependents. Sorry . We are in the same boat. My daughter did work for a couple of months last year. She filed last year but she was not eligible for the first two payments because she was claimed on our taxes. We are working the numbers now to see if it makes a difference to not claim her as a dependent. I'm not sure if she'll be eligible if she can be claimed as a dependent. I know that she is not eligible for last year's payments at all no matter what we do.

Ditto. Apparently, I should have waited to do my taxes until after this bill was passed. We would have been just barely under the cap using 2019 taxes.

Everything I had read about the stimulus told people to do a back of envelope taxes before filing this year.

We got a snail mail letter from IRS today. It stated that we would be getting a stimulus check in the amount of....and that if it didn’t appear in a week, it told us what to do.

Actually the letter was just addressed to DH, so above should have singular pronoun, not plural. I just asked him, because the amount was not what I had heard a couple would get. Well, I didn’t get a letter.

Are you sure it’s talking about the check you will be getting, or about the last one that you already received? My daughter just got a letter today stating that she got her check several months ago, and if she hadn’t received it yet, to contact the IRS.
