STILL waiting for "Room-Only" Codes...

Here is how I was able to get a cheaper room with an AP.

I know that the Swan and Dolphin resorts fall into a different category then other resorts, because they aren't actually "Disney" owned resorts, but they aren't considered off-site resorts either. Since this is the case, they may or may not fall into the same room only discount problem as what you have been having at "Disney" resorts, but here is my situation.

On 4/22 I contacted Swan/Dolphin reservation line and asked them about the Club level rooms with King beds and wanted to know what kind of discounts I could get. The lady put me on hold, came back and told me that if I have or got an AP, I could get the room for $209.06 a night including tax. The regular room rate at the time (rates have resently gone up) without the AP was $236.48, saving me $219.36.

From what I was told and read on this board, very rarely will a code or discount for the week between x-mas and new years at a disney resort be given.

Gary, I confess that I am a bit confused. First you said:
After the phone call, I feel like the people in charge at WDW, don't care about their loyal customers.
But then you said:
we would not take 3 to 4 trips a year, staying in WDW resorts, without the AP room rates. Without the AP room discounts, I would probably not have an AP

So if Disney doesn't offer AP rates, you won't buy an AP and you won't take 3 to 4 WDW trips a year. That isn't loyalty, that opportunism; not that opportunism is bad, but it certainly doesn't give the moral foundation for indignance.

Plus, you even said that you have a 'comeback' rate for the usual time you travel - isn't just what you expect; a bonus for regular customers?

Don't get me wrong, I made the same assumptions you did. My DW and I have two perfectly good PAP vouchers that we bought in April gathering dust, due to the FTP. I did the research, over-planned and assumed, and I payed the price. Thankfully, the vouchers are good forever, so we booked FTP for October and will start our PAP year next fall.

I guess we over-planners / assumption-makers need to learn the same rule as investors: Past results do not guarantee future performance.

Hope the rates come out for you - we'll be needing them NEXT fall,
Erick

...would the weekend after Labor Day weekend be considerd "fall season"??

Hi.
My aunt booked PO:RS for July 3rd-I forget.
Anyways, she's been having me check for codes and stuff, because she has two rooms and it is not cheap.

Are there even GOING to be room only codes? or do I need to tell her to change to this other special thing (the 7 for price of 4 or whatever deal?) (that I do not understand at all)?

To Gamer: I would not hold my breath for room only codes if you are not a passholder or Florida resident. I would contact a travel agent of AAA to see if they can assist you otherwise book the FTP. Go to www.mousesavers.com, for an explanation of the offer, or to the top of the this board.

To all AP holders: Please keep in mind that you are not restricted by a booking date when your offers are released, you can book up until day of arrival. The only other groups that get this are Florida residents and people who receive the occasional postcard; you are in a very small group of people who have that privilege. There are others that would love that! Of course this is what the AP resort discounts are designed for, to encourage passholders to take another trip, which is why they are released so close to the travel time. Besides which IMOP, you should not be buying an AP with the expectation of a room discount, you should buy it knowing that it is the best option for you based on the number of days you plan to enter the theme park within one year.
