Here is how I was able to get a cheaper room with an AP.
I know that the Swan and Dolphin resorts fall into a different category then other resorts, because they aren't actually "Disney" owned resorts, but they aren't considered off-site resorts either. Since this is the case, they may or may not fall into the same room only discount problem as what you have been having at "Disney" resorts, but here is my situation.
On 4/22 I contacted Swan/Dolphin reservation line and asked them about the Club level rooms with King beds and wanted to know what kind of discounts I could get. The lady put me on hold, came back and told me that if I have or got an AP, I could get the room for $209.06 a night including tax. The regular room rate at the time (rates have resently gone up) without the AP was $236.48, saving me $219.36.
From what I was told and read on this board, very rarely will a code or discount for the week between x-mas and new years at a disney resort be given.
