Still Unsure about Bonnet Creek

Hi all! I know there's alot of people on these boards who love the Bonnet Creek resort, and we're planning our February celebrations (valen-birth-iversary) and we ran into a bit of a conundrum. We usually stay at the Cabins in Ft Wilderness because we love everything Disney and how convenient it is to get to the park and how we end up getting 'our own little place'. Unfortunately, this year, we're being forced to scale back due to recent vet bills involving our cat and surgery.

Our trip will only be 2 nights and we'll be arriving late the first night. From what I can gather, having stalked the threads I could find, the most we'll lose is the convenient transport to Disney, but driving to the parks doesn't bother us much either. I did manage to find some ridiculously low prices for a 2-bedroom villa at BC during the times we want to go, but I'm still unsure, or if that's just me being afraid to break out of the Disney Bubble.

Hello fellow Fort lover! We had our first WBC trip last month - it certainly will not be our last!

You are right, the transportation to the parks is a bit of a drawback if you are used to using Disney's transport...especially since you get spoiled taking the boat from the Fort to the MK! The MK is really the only destination where I missed a boat or bus since you have to park at the TTC, but it definitely wasn't off-putting enough for us to not want to return.

We've stayed all over property with and without a car, several times at the Fort with our RV. I'll say that WBC is a very close second as a favorite, coming in after the Fort. And bang for the buck, you really can't beat it. If the BC villa is a comparable price, I'd probably go with that, just because I love that Epcot area location and being able to walk into WS; but I'm guessing even "ridiculously low" is double or more what you'd pay at WBC...in which case I'd choose WBC.

Give it a shot, I don't think you'll be disappointed - you will probably wish you had booked a longer stay!

Haha! Thanks so much! you honestly put my fears to rest. I should say those "ridiculously low prices" were for WBC lol, I guess my spell checker is just getting sick and tired of acronyms and WBC wasnt one I had used yet.

It's great and have stayed there almost exclusively the last 6 years. We have six year old twins and often travel with our nanny so having all the bedrooms is great. You definitely can't go wrong - but if I were going with just my wife for two days I'd also just consider one of the value resorts. If you're like us and at the parks from rope drop to closing - the resort is pretty much just a place to sleep and we do like being on property. But when travelling with family for a week - getting a 3-BR for not much more than a value resort - it's a no brainer. Like you - we never mind driving to the parks and usually have a rental car anyway.

Lol, you got us pinned, I gotta say. We usually dont travel with the kids (N&N) unless we're on a big trip with Gm and Gp. Not only that, we sadly did look into the value resorts and, having stayed at All-stars before, don't wish to repeat the experience. The crazy news here now, is I managed to find a 2 bedroom villa at WBC for around $90 a night which would run us about the same amount as the all-stars on the AP discount.

Yeah, having stayed at a value resort a couple of times for just one or two nights each, I'm with you. If it were a couples trip with just me and DH, the last place I'd want to stay is a value with the thin walls, screaming kids, and no balcony or personal outdoor space to sit on to unwind. WBC wins hands-down in my book!

I promise you will enjoy it! I think alot of people (fellow Disney bubble lovers) are reluctant to switch to the Bonnet Creek but once you do you realize how nice it is having space, being able to leisurely drink coffee in the morning (I dislike being restricted to 1 "pod" ), and still being super close to the parks. We are doing a plit stay on our trip in 2 weeks and I am almost certain my husband will be sold on exclusive Bonnet Creek stays afterwards--I have stayed there before, it will be his first time.

OMG us too. It took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get from Caribbean Beach to Narcossees for dinner. I was so mad I was almost in tears. Luckily they still got us in (15 min late). Never again!

When going from one resort to another, you can save a lot of stress by just taking a taxi. Many people forget about that option.

We stayed at WBC a year ago. Yes they are nice 2-3 bedroom apartments, and it is practically within Disney property. Although there was some effort at theming in the pool areas, it was half-hearted at best. Overall WBC was okay, and we may stay there again someday. But for full immersion we are heading to POR with our newly adopted twin teens in April.

We stay on property 99% of the time. We stayed at Bonnet Creek 3 Bedroom and really enjoyed it. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I could not get on property. We drove to parks while at Bonnet Creek, but do usually prefer busses/monorail/or boats depending on where we are staying.

For years, were die hard Disney deluxe snobs. But then we stayed in a 2br standard at Bonnet Creek, space and value at Disney just doesn't compare. And then we stayed in a Bonnet Creek Presidential. Now there's no going back.

Definitely give it a shot. If you don't like it, it's just another excuse to plan a future trip and go back to Fort Wilderness. Offsite timeshare condo resorts (IMHO) offer an outstanding value for an Orlando vacation and are one of the reasons we come back so often (great bang for the buck). I love Fort Wilderness too (used to stay there as a kid regularly as my parents had a motor home.). The cabins look great, but I've never tried them due to cost and the great deals that I can get on terrific offsite condos, though. // One of the cool things that being on Disney property offers is easy transportation especially for the 15-25 year old set who might like to do things on their own and aren't on the rental car contract. If, though, like us you are mostly all doing things together, that's really not that big a deal. I really prefer driving myself too -- less planning for getting to rope drop, easier to get from resort to resort without a theme park stop, etc. And it opens up the whole offsite world which is packed full of fun in Orlando too.
