Still spending a boat load of dough

We buy PAPs every other year and plan our annual DVC trip to fall into the dates of the pass. For example, last year, we started our trip on June 7. This year it ends on Jun 6. Plus, I had a meeting in Orlando for a week in March, so I was able to go to WDW every evening after my meeting was over, plus all morning on Friday since I got my travel clerk to make an afternoon reservation for me from Orlando. I did a lot in those three hours on that Friday morning.

So this year, we don't pay for 9 nights of lodging or tickets. Just to eat and we don't do the dining plan. We do have the Disney Dining Experience card (it will expire at the end of Jun) to get 20% off our table service dining.

But we made a guess about three months ago, what the price of gasoline would be in our area when we leave for vacation. It's only 9 cents away from our guess. Holiday weekend coming up - just like gasoline prices.

I mentioned this thread to my wife, particularly the part where I mentioned how we vacationed in Cape Cod for cheap last year.....and then she reminded me of our trip to Alabama to watch a college football game this year. We paid big bucks for airfare (had to fly into Georgia and then rent a car and drive down to Alabama). When you figured in airfare, hotel, food, rental car, cost of game, and more, my wife and I agreed that it was about the price of a Disney trip with about only 1/10 the enjoyment.

So, with that said, I guess it all depends. We'd like to see if we can save some money every now and then by banking points, and on top of that, it will be nice to see some other parts of the country.
