Still Serving Whole Wheat Buns?

Is Disney still serving the whole wheat / multi-grain buns on hotdogs and hamburgers?

Please tell me it ain't so!

They are still serving them. And even worse, you don't have a choice. I asked if I could get a hot dog on a white bun and was told nope, the wheat one is the only one they have.

I've stopped eating hot dogs and hamburgers at Disney World.

And wrap sandwiches at park CS places will most likely come enclosed in a whole wheat tortilla (which was pretty good with the chicken caesar wrap)

Hmm... honestly, if I hadn't read about this here, I wouldn't have known they had switched the buns.

I had a hotdog at Casey's a few weeks ago - it looked white, tasted white... the only difference was it wasn't as "soft" - it split in two when I opened it to put my condiments in. Made it a little more messy to eat, but it tasted just fine to me. Won't stop me at all from eating hotdogs at Casey's!

In my opinion (and I'm an outspoken critic of the wheat buns), stale crumbly = wheat.

That's just me and some people have said they don't taste a difference. However, my husband, who could eat anything between slices of any kind of yeast product as long as there was enough ketchup to go around, told me the other day that he really was disappointed in what Disney was doing. Yes, we've eaten the things. Yes, we eaten the ones before. A shared Disney hot dog was one of our special snacks. It's gone now.

For us, there's not enough ketchup in the world to get rid of the taste of these wheat things.

But, like I said, I am a very outspoken critic of these buns. Try them for yourself. I just know that I'm not eating them again ever.

i actually prefer the whole wheat buns. at home we dont eat white bread. honestly, i like the taste better too, whole wheat is delish!

I haven't heard about this. I am happy though. All we eat in our house is whole wheat. Some brands are more crumbly I have found, but some are really soft and stay together better than white. Usually those are the more expensive ones.

We were the May 10-17th and they had the wheat buns. I didn't have a problem with them because my parents & I eat wheat bread but my boyfriend & his parents didn't like them at all. In fact they said that it made the pizza taste different. I thought the pizza on a wheat crust was actualyl good.. haha

My DS is a finicky eater. Doesn't eat much as it stands. He dislikes whole wheat bread, rolls etc.

I was hoping Disney was just doing this on a trial bases and would give people the option....

Don't tell him they are whole wheat and maybe he won't notice. Most people go in with a preconceived notion that wheat = crumbly, stale, and funny tasting and it just isn't always true. I have not had the new wheat buns, but I am looking forward to trying something new. I am curious to know if they are wheat buns or whole wheat buns.....there is a definite (health) difference between the two. Wheat buns are nutrionally equivalent to white buns with the bleach removed while whole wheat buns are actually (potentially) good for you.

We don't eat white bread, pasta, rice, etc., at home so I am glad they serve the wheat buns. Our DS (18 months) only has white products when we're out and they don't serve wheat so he doesn't mind either- thank goodness!!

My big beef is that if it's MY vacation then why are they tring to ruin it? I think that the shouldn't force it apon anyone. I can't eat multigrain food because it usually contains flax seeds which I'm allergic to.

It's not true multi grain, rather enhanced white bread - I have had it and there weren't any flax seeds in it so it shouldn't bother your allergies. To be positive however, I'd double check at the counter when ordering.

I don't think that Disney is trying to ruin your vacation, or anyone else's by forcing wheat upon us. I agree a choice would be nice but to put the shoe on the other foot, where was the choice for wheat fans prior to this? I have heard that some people who wanted to eat healthy were cruelly told to go eat elsewhere if they wanted healthy. I think there should be a choice for everyone.

I wouldn't mind it if it was a good quality wheat bun but the one I had was horrible. It completely crumbled... worse than any wheat bun I had ever eaten before. So Disney please put my BIG, FAT, JUICY Artery clogging Casey Dog on a decent healthier wheat roll!
