Still Serving Whole Wheat Buns?

Dh and I only eat whole wheat/whole grain breads, so I'm thrilled with the change.

Hot Dog + whole wheat = healthy? How do you make a hotdog healthy?:rotfl: I guess a little healthy is better then no healthy.

I just can't imagine a hotdog on a whole wheat bun!!!!

I'll try and as a previous poster mentioned, I won't tell my son.....

Whole wheat bun with turkey hotdog = healthy.........whole wheat bun instead of white bun only equals healthier, but i'd like to see the label on these wheat buns, as I am suspect of how "whole wheat" they are. I want to know why they really changed...... are they concerned for our collective health, is it somehow a cost savings, do they have a poll somewhere that said we want this? You are right though - a little healthy is better than no healthy, but you are more right in laughing at the idea of a healthy hotdog from WDW!

My family is also glad to see the whole wheat changes. I'd like to see Disney serve whole grain breads with dinner. I'm sure they could make whole grain Tonga toast and Mickey waffles. For years we have to choke down white bread with no choice.

Okay...

#1 the whole wheat buns and whole wheat pizza crust are nothing like regular whole wheat or whole grain bread/buns -- they aren't dark colored, they don't have a dry or icky texture (and my DH is very texture sensitive)

#2 if you have food allergies that are severe enough to be concerned about on a regular basis (i.e. you have anaphalaxis or other reactions -- some foods make me ravenously hungry <think really nutty pregnancy cravings>, some foods make me itch in very specific areas, some foods give me massive headaches) -- ASK ABOUT FOOD BEFORE YOU EAT IT

#3 if you get a stale or crumbly bun -- go back and get it replaced

#4 I've gotten stale, crumbly, fall-apart-when-you-split-them hot-dog-buns at many grocery stores or at other hot dog places -- and they were white buns

We just got back from a 2 week stay at Disney and I have to tell you I don't eat wheat bread however, I could not tell the buns were wheat. We ate lots of hamburgers and most were not great but I don't think it was always because of the bread. The buns are really not that dark at all.

It always amazes me how the idea of whole wheat/grains can be so offensive to some people. That's pretty much all we eat in our house these days. We actually think they taste better and we know that they are better for us.

However, I too would like to see the actual nutritional panel on these new "whole wheat" buns as we're also eliminating high fructose corn syrup from our diets too and far too many breads (whole grain or not) are made with HFCS. And I'd like to know exactly how much whole grain is really in those things. But either way, I don't think I'd be eating any hot dogs or hamburgers at Disney anyway.

I'm not going to tell other people what to eat, but I know that moving to whole grains and avoiding processed foods has done wonders for me. I have much more energy. I've lost a nice amount of weight. And I just feel better.

Honestly I really didn't notice much of a difference. They aren't true whole wheat, I wouldn't have even noticed except I had read about it here. None of my 3 picky eaters noticed a thing (and they are true "wonder bread" type kids!).
