The overpriced homecoming tickets are still not sold!

At first, I wasn't excited about Member Homecoming.

I gradually realized it would be really nice to have the parks almost to ourselves.

I do think it is a bit overpriced. We will already have tickets and that is a lot of money to lay out for the rest of the events alone.

I'm anxious to hear reports of what it's like. We will be going to VB and will miss it.

Maybe DVCers would like to see some more fairly priced events that are special for DVCers, without having such a money making focus for Disney. I especially don't like the "DVC cash cow" aspect to this particular event.

I hope that this ends up being a great event for those who are going. I'm sure that the special gifts will be very nice. But, even considering the gifts, it wasn't tempting enough for us to cancel our plans for HH the next week, and pay the extra for MH. If the price had been lower (especially for those of us with APs), and it had been announced earlier, we may have changed our plans.

We are leaving on the 24th - did not want to pay up for this event - I think they could have done much better on price as a thank-you of some sort for our hard earned cash

thanks

My mother and I will be going. We kept on going back and forth about going. Of course, the big turn off was the price. But I knew I would be getting a lot of money back in taxes and we figured we did not want to later on hear how great it was (if it is) and then start saying we should have gone. So I forked over my credit card (gulp) and try not to think of the cost (which is costing us more than our stay at POR before moving to our DVC home resort of OKW. At least we are keeping in our heads to not buy so much stuff because we don't know what they will be giving out.

All too often, it seems to me, members are given the "DVC DISCOUNT" in these affairs, meaning the price gets jacked up 20% and then marketed as something special and magical.

Let's take the other side of this for a minute, though. With the number of DVC members, an extremely attractive price may have made it too appealing. How would you like to be a DVC member who perceived that a limited number of members got a special perk that you wanted and were unable to get because it "sold out" despite your best efforts to get tickets. Sometimes things are priced specifically to reduce the demand to the point that no one is disappointed by being unable to attend due to a sellout. In theory, those who have the highest valuation for the homecoming will be those who buy the tickets. I don't have a problem with that, though I do wish the price was better. I would not pay the price asked, but that is my choice and I don't resent the price point or those who chose to pay it.

Dr. P I have to agree. I think DVC knows exactly what it was doing pricing the events, the short notice and the time of year they offered it. They did not want overwhelming demand. My Guide said they only sent invites to a select group.

The only other way a member would know of MH is by the website, Vacation Magic, (I havent gotten one in months), discussion boards or when they arrive for their DVC stay. I too hope it is worth it and have a pretty good feeling that it will be.

I think many DVCers will arrive that week and not have a clue about MH and want to attend. The DVC's are pretty much sold out that week, as I have been checking regularly on my waitlist so they may be holding back to accomodate members at checkin.
