I am suppose to sail on sep 30. Will I hear from DCL is we don't stop in CC ?
Have you heard from Disney (officialy) about the damages on CC ? Looks like Ivan is coming right at us - this is our luck FLORIDA ..:earseek:

I was just told by DCL that CC had 'minimal' damage so it just depends on how soon they get it cleaned up. She thought there was a good chance this weekends cruises would get there but of course today's sailing won't be going.:(
I think it all depends on who you talk to?!

I spoke to DCL yesterday because I need to reserve shore excursions for Nov 14th's cruise.... They said CC should be back up by then!

Disney was very happy that there was minor damage on CC. They are doing their best and quickest to get it up and running...

Hopefully, Ivan the Terrible won't affect it either or the repairs. The CM said that CC should be on the rotation within a few cruises.

Hope that helps!

I just got off the phone with DCL. I received the same info regarding the status of CC. Limited damage and they are doing assessment and cleanup. They took my CC excursion request for the 11/4 cruise and said it should be available for guest before then.

Stuart,

Did they let you book excursions??? We aren't 60 days out until next Wednesday, which is when we should be allowed to start booking excursions....

Noooooo. ;) I was just checking to see if I should even decide on CC shore excursions, or if we should be looking at Cozumel or some other such thing.

Looks like it's on schedule per usual and yes, next Thursday (9/16) I believe is 60 days for the Nassau excursions, and the Friday (9/17) will be the CC book-date.

I think it's all in who you talk to when you call in...I just spoke with DCL (we cruise Sunday 9/12) and just in passing asked about CC (I have resigned myself to not going) - she said they still had no information, but that there was a crew out there.

On a positive note, the news of minimal damage has at least got my wife out of her mood that the entire island is gone and we won't see it this time or ever again! Sunday will be our first DCL cruise.

I talked to DCL about an hour ago. The CM said there was minimal damage and they were just doing cleanup.

I hope she was right!!!

Just out of curiosity - and not to start anything....

Are all the DCL reps/CMs located in the same place physically? I would think that there would be some system in place to give the reps/CMs an update as to what is happening, so that they would all be on the same page.

I worked in a 'bullpen-like' area of a helpdesk (about 30+ people)and we all knew if there were outages or problems with our systems, either thru word of mouth, a system/computer message or a FAQ database that was updated daily.

Like I said - just curious - since Disney seems to be so technologically advanced in most areas.

I am really hoping that the "minimal damage" report is accurate, as I am sailing on the 26th.

I spoke with Debbie today at DCL and she said that it could be ready for the 9/19 sailing. She said that they didn't have to do any dredging and the damage was very moderate. she did say that the "adult" beach was a whole new beach w/ so much sand.
She also said that they did have to dredge Port Canaveral-- so I guess that is even more uncertain about the opening date.
I was encouraged. She also took our cell phone numbers for contacts in case there were last minute changes regarding our ports of departure.

Crossing my fingers that Ivan leaves us alone!

That's GOOD NEWS since we are on the Sept 19th sailing! Now, GO AWAY IVAN, GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you're all so happy but I've got a migrane !!!!! I'm also on the September 12 th cruise that I've planned since January. Ron Jon cancelled my reservation yesterday and I can't get another hotel near the port. I'm supposed to get on an airplane tomorrow and I have no idea what port I'm cruising out of. Ivan is supposed to hit closer to PE, but PC is damaged. And according to the maps, I have no concept of where the captain could possibly steer us on a 4 night to escape Ivan. Guess I better pack the dramamine. I'm sure there's little hope of seeing CC. This has turned into a nightmare already. I know that even a 4 day at sea would be fun, but in high winds and choppy water and all of the uncertainty of ports, rental cars, switching hotels... etc. I've learned a valuable lessons....
Never cruise in hurricane season again!
Good Luck South Florida!

Your best bet IMHO is to stay somewhere on Disney property. Yes, PC is out of comission and they haven't given a date when that will be ready. Disney on the other hand will bus your party to wherever they will be bringing the ship in. We were scheduled for the modified 3 day wonder on Sept 6, (that eventually got cancelled) and we were told that they had 3 pick up locations. PC, at Disney and somewhere else, that I can't remember. WE wound up re-scheduling since we didn't know if we were having damages from Frances (we didn't:p ).

Good luck, and lots of pixie dust for a pleasant trip!!!

I am so glad to hear that the first round of hurricanes did not distroy CC! We cruise 9/30 for our honeymoon and then a week at the Polynesian so please keep the pixy dust comming. Ivan better not do anything horribly bad or I will be furrious!

The one thing not mentioned in this thread is they took a shipload of people to CC. When the Wonder stopped in Port Everglades to drop off, they took aboard all the CC personnel and other castmembers and went straight to CC with the idea of beginning cleanup immediately if possible. With the idea that they didn't even have to dredge, it'll be no time at all till it's back to useable.

Rachel, I agree with previous poster. Get a reservation on Disney property, make sure you have DCL transfers and let Disney do the worrying!

When the ships avoid the hurricanes, they also try to avoid the rough weather. You're on the cruise to have fun not be sick and I'm sure the Captain will try his best to have a smooth sailing.
