Still no Mousekeeping decline option at deluxe resorts?

Anyone know of they have extended the offer to turn down mousekeeping to the deluxe resorts. We don't need a full room clean every day and a bit of extra spending money always helps! I'm surprised this doesn't seem to be an option at deluxe hotels...

No, and there hasn't been any sign of it since the program started. Possibly they have enough housekeeping CMs to easily clean all the rooms, plus the Deluxe resorts have (sometimes many) fewer rooms than Value/Moderate resorts?

I have noticed a couple of threads talk about mousekeeping and declining services. Can someone explain to me what it is about? Do they charge for mousekeeping services now? (I haven't been in several years).

There's no charge for housekeeping. The value and moderate resorts have been offering a promotion that lets the guest opt out of daily housekeeping, in return for a gift card.

thank you. I just saw another thread pop up asking what it was all about.

It's not an option at deluxe resorts because people saving a few dollars by not getting housekeeping is the antithesis of a deluxe experience. As is getting a room that has attracted bugs because many of the previous occupants opted out of housekeeping for several days at a stretch, or walking down a hallway dotted with filled trashbags or piles of dirty towels that guests left outside because they don't have housekeeping, etc.

Around a month ago..It was talked about extending this to the Deluxe resorts starting in 2020. Well see.
I know that a lot of folks will use the perk. 10.00 is 10.00 and we have got the card our last 3 visits. It adds up! And, the room doesn't need anything...other than towels...and those are easy to trade in, or swap your self. Trash easy also. If its offered in 2020 at the Deluxe resorts tons will use it. Im sure it saves Disney money or they wouldn't do it...so, Its almost a certainty that all the resorts will offer it sooner or later. And if you don't want the gift cards..then housekeeping is there.

For my family, We always use housekeeping. My kids and I have asthma. I like someone else to change out the towels and trash, and sweep the floors daily. We also leave a tip for Mousekeeping each day of our stay. We’ve never had any issues while we were visiting.

But not having housekeepers in my room all up in my business, and feeling more comfortable about not putting my bras away, IS deluxe for me. And getting a few bucks back would be lovely.

No matter how much I might pay for a room, I rarely have housekeeping come in. (And yes I know of the security check thing)

Completely agree. I know there are security checks but I don't want to feel embarrassed if i for example leave clean underwear out. I'm sure the housekeepers have seen it all before, but not mine!

It’s also worth noting that opting out is an all or nothing affair. You can’t ask for housekeeping every two or three days.

My girlfriend and I are very tidy... and even when I stay by myself... I find the room really needs a once over after five days. So, it isn’t a good option for longer visits.

In regards to those other housekeeping discussion threads, the big theme seems to be towels more than anything else. I’ve learned about a vast swath of the population who use an absurd number of daily towels and who can’t live without new ones while on vacation.

My guess to their not offering it at the Deluxe hotels is the inside entrance to rooms. With just a few exceptions all the resorts that offer it have outside entrances. That way, the guests can put their trash, stuff outside, not in the hall. I have a feeling they don't want the stuff clogging up hallways inside. If this is the reason, they'll never expand it to the Deluxe resorts.

Absolutely. If the guests are willing to cl Dan up after themselves.
And unfortunately, they can't offer this ONLY to guests who will clean up after themselves. You know there are some there who don't. Really makes you wonder what the housekeepers have to tend to when those guests leave and they finally get in the room. I know I've even seen instances where the guest doesn't take the trash to the bin themselves, leaving it on the sidewalk for someone else to come get.

I will say that I think the decline housekeeping option at the values and mods is a huge mistake. I've stayed at all levels and have taken many many trips to Disneyworld and in August 2018 my travel party decided to book two rooms at POP. Keep in mind they were not beside each other. Both rooms were infested with palmetto bugs (I don't care what you call them but they looked like cockroaches). We had to be moved. That was the first trip I had taken since the decline housekeeping option was introduced and the first time in many trips that I ever had bugs in my room.

We did 2 weeks last year with no mousekeeping and didn't struggle but maybe we are just a bit ming 😂

I don’t think any hotel should let you decline housekeeping. A lot of people are slobs and will leave wet towels and spills on carpets, bedding, and furniture. It makes it harder to maintain the room, requiring them to replace things more often, and drives up the already high prices. Or they leave the room smelling musty with damaged furniture and stained linens and you don’t feel like you are staying at a good hotel. Not to mention how lovely it is to dodge food trays in the hall because people don’t want them in their rooms, but don’t want housekeeping to come take it away.
