Still no job

I am sooooo bored. I have been out of work since July and just cannot get a job. The PR/Marketing jobs are getting twice as many applicants as normal and apparently I'm too qualified to be an Executive Assistant/ PA. Yes, I may be over qualified but I could still do the job and actually would love to do the job.

Have been on a few interviews but I think that, at 48 I'm too old for some positions, although they don't say this, you can just tell. I don't feel old, well I didn't until I was made redundant!

Sorry to vent, but it's so frustrating, having worked all of my life I now find myself going to apply for the jobseekers allowance, which I am dreading as although I qualify for it now, I have always been self supporting and hate this.

I must have applied for 200 jobs and only received replies from about 20 - with 5 resulting in interviews.

Oh well, back to internet to search!!

Thanks for listening
Tina

 good luck, I hope you find something soon.

good luck, I really feel for you. Have you tried any agencies with the view to temping ? I know it's not ideal but sometimes it can be a foot in the door and hopefully something more suitable and permanent will follow it. Good luck xxx

I do sympathise with you:flower3:

I was a PR manager for a large high street back until I got made redundant 7 years ago. After a year off doing the family stuff, I decided I wanted to go back out to work (but not back to fulltime PR since I didn't want to have to commute to London from the south coast every day).

I saw a job advertised in our local newspaper one day for a school secretary and thought, I could do that, after all that's how I started my working career as a secretary.

And I got the job.

I really had to sell myself at the interview and explain that I really did want the job - I said I wanted a work/life balance and, although they asked me some very indepth questions, as well as some interesing posers ("you've been used to someone making your coffee for you, how will you feel making it for others now"; "what about doing someone's photocopying . . . ".

Good luck, I really hope you find what you want.

good luck:wizard:, I hope you find somthing soon
