Hello there all...
I have been quiet for a couple days because I suddenly find myself living in the land of Nebo
It's actually a good thing now that I have had a couple days to think about it...
I was laid off.
but today...guess what I did...
I already put in my recruitment application to be a
travel agent, I am going to allow unemployment to pay for my last two classes for my business admin degree and I am going to see about getting a realtor's license.
I'm still young and still bounce quite well~
I got my husband a pair of concert tickets for a show on Halloween in Philly for his birthday and I still have my December trip to Disneyworld to look forward to.
Hope you two are holding up well...I am looking forward to seeing how stealthily you take your pictures herr Nebo.
Wow, Colleen, really sorry to hear about your work, but it sounds like you already have a plan. It stilll feels strange to me to not be driving into work every morning. As far as the pics go, we'll see how many times I can bounce back and forth between here and Photo bucket before either I screw up or the puter does.
Last night, I had to have "THE" talk with my cat, Mischief. I knew it would have to come sooner or later. It's been wondering why she doesn't have a hair loss problem like me, and wants to know why after 7 years, she still can't reach the doorknob to let herself out.
So I had to tell her that she was adopted as a young kitty. She took it quite well. She lifted her leg, licked herself a couple times and walked out of the room.
By the way, at what age should you tell a highway it's been adopted?
Just wondrin.
Ok, before we return to what I started out doing here, I'm going to hit you with a bunch of photos from this last trip, mainly cuz there was a bunch of youse guys down there too.
In the planning stage, it turned out that Patrick, Melinda and us, all requested building 18 in the bayous. That one an 14 are the most convenient to the resort. I had told all parties involved, that the odds of us all getting 18 were more than a million to one. And I was right.
DIsneydad checked in first, was told huh uh, NO ROOM FOR YOU! They tried to put him way on the outskirts, which wasn't good because of his wife's bad foot. Heck, the outskirts in the bayous aren't good if you have goood feet. After some haggling and manager intervention, they ended up in 14, but with the dreaded parking lot view.
Next came us.
We checked in about 15 minutes before LexMelinda.
"NO ROOM FOR YOU!"
We got second floor in building 16, behind 18, but she said it was a nice "courtyard" view. I always take a room view shot, so here it is, from in front of our door.
If you look really hard between the leaves,you'll see the quiet pool in the background, a little Agent Orange and a telescope, and they could have charged us for a water view. We would have seen this:
The tricky part was our building wasn't on the main path along the river. You had to take the main path to the secondary path, then switch to the thirdlyary parh, and then the,,,, um,,,,,one more. Somewhere along the way, you were going to mess up, and we did plenty of times.
Coming back at night was ridiculous.
We just stayed at Melinda's.
Another bayou shot.
Allright. We so far are Oh for two on building 18.
15 minutes later, in walks Melinda with her kids, she's dead meat, right?
I think the conversation went something like this;
"I'm sorry, we don't have any rooms available in 18, you'll have to",,,(pause, cast member staring), " Excuse me, your file says you are Melinda, Oh my gosh!, you're not THAT Melinda, are you?" "Tracy, Beth, come here, it's Melinda, THE LEXMELINDA, standing right here!"
"Would a second floor, scenic view of the river along the main path be ok for you?" "And of course you'll have turn down service."
I hope the chocolate mint got stuck in her ear.
So Melinda scores.
Since we didn't have our luggage yet, we were taking a walk around within 20 miinutes of checking in. When we hit the main path, someone yelled down to Diane; "Hello down there, just check in?" It was her. She and her daughter came down the stairs and we met for the first time.
I was about to point out to her that she must be lost, cuz there's no rooms in that building, when she pointed out her room.
We declined to do the "dance of joy" with her.
She's very sweet, a little shorter than I thought she'd be, and a pleasure to be around. Sometimes, I even heard her when she talked.
It was funny how often we'd run into each other there, as big as it is.
Our luggage came a couple hours later, and as Diane was unpacking the clothes, I was unpacking the liquour, and made us a couple drinks. This is another "first day" routine. We stopped by the pool for a smoke, before it was time to meet up with Patrick, aka Disneydad99, at the main pool bar.
And ran into Melinda again.
This time with all her kids. Her kids seem just like her, a great family.
On to the main pool, and see if Patrick shows up.
Well, he was there, and already drinking a manhattan. I was amazed, just amazed at how well we hit it off right away, especially since he's from Georgia, and he talks funny.
No uncomfortable silences, just a lot of laughing and good natured ribbing. To me that's important that you can kid each other, since I do that a lot, anyway. Soon after we met his wife Karen and their kids.
Then the pictures started. A disclaimer here;
I'm not comfortable posting pictures of other folk's kids on line, or mentioning there full names, I just will leave that up to the parents. Not that I think it's wrong or anything, just that maybe it's not my decision to make.
Ok, meet Disneydad and us;
Patrick and his wife, Karen;
A good time was had by all, and I had a great time talking with their son, D.
The girls, L and A were adorable as well. Our meeting ended too soon, as we had Boatwright's ressies due, but I felt like I made a new buddy.
ON the way back to ;
we walked past the playground. I looked. I stopped. I stared.
Diane stared at what I was staring at.
Then we both stared at each other.
And busted up laughing, thinking the same thing.
You tell me, what masochist would miss a chance to "enjoy" this slide?
No, no, don't say it. I prefer my way of looking at the thing.
Ok, I'm getting nervous. I can't copy this thing as it goes, when I have to keep hitting the copy button over at Photobucket, so I'm going to leave with one last shot, and continue really soon, probably tomorrow, if I don't run out of commas.
Part two coming up. seeya
