Still Feeding Nebo: The may trip final chapter pg 122, Dec. 31

Hi, Like I said, the old schedule is out the window now, but I do have a couple things to say, and want to get caught up.

As you guys know, our life has been totally turned upside down. For the last week, I have done nothing at work. Hopefully, the owner hasn't realized that yet. The reason is, there is this group setting up for the auction, that's three weeks away. Yep. All machines must go!
And there is no point in making parts to be shipped, when by the time they pay, we won't get it anyway.
All right, this leads us to our Sept. trip. And uh, we are past the cancellation deadline, plus , the 419 airfare for the two of us would be just totally lost. So, we're keeping it.

However! And this is where the insanity steps in.
Since I gradiated high school, I have never been out of work. Nope, not ever. And, if it comes to applying for unempoymet for a while, a month or two off would be ok.
Now, we really want to move to Florida sometime in the near future.
And,,,,,,, Diane has always wanted to see Disney with the Christmas decorations up. Yep, see where this is going?

Using the philosophy of , "It never hurts to book it", we just booked a trip for early December, using a brand new code today. ZQG. We booked a room at AS music, for approximately 44 bucks a night.
This is staying at Disney, from the 8th to the 16th, for a total including tax, 53 bucks a night. We plan , if we use it, to do a lot of driving around, and checking out apartments, homes, just the basic demographics of the area.
But how can you beat 44 bucks a night to stay at Disney? When all the Christmas decos are up?

By the way, so far the only value resorts they are offering that code price for are Music and Sports. And the only Mod is POR. I have no idea if we will go, but it's booked , baby.

I just wanted to share that with you guys. Yes, you have to book at least 3 nights, and buy at least one day's ticket to make it the package. This is not a room only code.
Anyway,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I'll shut up now.

All right, Mr. Nebo Dude, I gotta ask.
Why did you have your lenses removed?
And why didn't you make the Doc put new ones in?

I got to choose the focal length of the one they put in my eye after they did the roto rooter thing on my own lens. Danged if the world didn't seem brighter and more colorful afterwards.

Dude. (shakes head)
Nanadeb, Diane pretty much explained it. I didn't have cataracts, but I had reached the point where they couldn't make contacts any stronger. So , by having my lenses removed, and implants put in, I was now back in the game where I could where glasses again. But this was eitght years ago, and it was still kind of new. Yes, I went for the focal point tests, but I was so extreme, they had no idea what to implant. And no, they weren't even close. I still where thick glasses, but I have given up my pastime of burning ants with them.

Hey Diane,

I am so Glad you are working ...at least they tip sometimes...I don't get Poor tippers...they make me :headache:

& we love ya'll also!!!! & believe me this has been the Best thing to happen to our Family in a long time...I have a stressful job ...& I used to come home & just be Mad...then I found The DIS...started reading Nebos thread...started my own...& now DisneyMom will tell you....I am much more calm at Night!!!!!

So thanks to You & Steve also!1!!!

:
Thanks a lot Patrick, I know exactly how you feel. Dare I say, this site is better than Vicodin. We appreciate all the support you guys have shown us , and look forward to meeting you in september.

Great. You didn't know this, but me and Melinda, oops, Melinda et moi, WERE going to kidnap you and take you to Honey I thrilled the Audience In Our Early 90's Wardrobe and Hair-Styles." We thought it was your favorite! Crap!

Now we're stuck kidnapping you and taking you on an unmedicated trip on Soarin' WITH a feet view and hope-to-gosh you see the curse-ed hidden mickey (I'll point it out to you when the time comes).

AND not to jack your ride, but I am only 2 degrees from Patrick Warburton! NO kidding. He's my friend-since-birth's DH's BFF. PW was my friend's DH's best man in their wedding GUESS who(m) was a bridesmaid???? Except, they had two receptions (if I remember correctly) and I wasn't at the reception PW was at, per say. Wrong coast even. See? Two degrees! That makes all of you reading THREE degrees of Puddy. You are welcome! ((huffing on my fingernails and shining them on my collar))

And I thought I was the only one to make teenaged CM's cry! Shaaaaame!
Utah Mama, unless your going to lend me your eyes, I'm not going to see that darn mickey no matter what.
And, thank you for now making us a 3rd step away from Patrick. Does it matter that we once saw John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Randy Quaid from about 25 feet away shooting, "The Ice Harvest?"

sorry it took me so long to respond, I'm on vacation...........
Cheri, thanks for checking in, but please, oh please, get a different avatar.
Everytime you post I still just sit there and stare at it, kind of like you can end up doing with a fish tank.
I want to adopt him. By the way, I have read some more of Winkers World, but I can't post from work. Everybody, go read Winkers World, unless your not into concrete bras.

Just a time, that might be worthless, but in my experience, it is much easier to see if you are on the right (when looking at the screen)- don't know why, but I always see it on that side, and only see a blur when in the middle or on the left.

Hi Kim, I'll make sure to try that, if I can. It does seem like I am always sitting in the corner seat all the way over on the left.

That's cute! :hippie:

I totally agree about the pre show for Honey I Shrunk the Audience -- very snoozifying. And I don't understand why they won't let you go on through if the show is starting. Let's stage a revolt!

I'm disappointed that you haven't actually made it inside the Coral Reef yet. Well, maybe next time.... ;)
Spiffy. Glad you liked that zigga zagga, now I am in danger of that word entering my vocabulary ALL the time.
And your right, there is now, no way to avoid the pre show, I"m sure it's a Kodak thing.
"You say you want a revolution, weeelll, you know. "

Hey Nebo and Smidgey!
I came late to the party and hence am only on page way-back-here... but had to jump in and say:
1) Great trip report so far! Am enjoying it, and spending way too much time reading it instead of doing important things like laundry and dishes. Thank you for feeding my procrastination habit. ;)
2) I will be at POR Sept 20 - 29! Hope to see you there! :woohoo:

Sorsha, cool, what a great name! Kind of sounds like from a Japanese monster movie.
"Help, Help, It's Sorsha, RUN, RUN!"
Yes, we'll look forward to meeting you down at Muddy Rivers, that's usually where Diane ties on her 3 day bender.

Nebo,

I just bought a 6-pack of Bics, I'll bring you some spares.

Great report again!

Smidgy, that "removing lenses" comment concerns me now, my Dr. said I will need that sometime......... 1/2 hour to adjust to light? YIKES!:scared1:
Marita, no , don't be scared. Believe me, I was, and am still, a very special case. This wonl't apply to you. I have also had 3 retinal detatchments, so, my eyes were for shist from the get go.
Hi all,
Nebo, so sorry about falling in the clam shell. DH was worried about doing that with his bum leg.

Oh yeah, we are back from our trip, and I actually thought about you guys. I thought about Diane bartending at the Gurgling Suitcase at OKW, and how much I would have enjoyed having her there.

Also had one of your favorite:rolleyes: expressions run through my mind, more than once.

:lmao: But, you'll have to read my TR to find out which one it was. :rotfl: Oh, I'm so mean.

glad Miss D got a job of sorts, and hope all is well, other than the normal not well, I mean.:confused3
Ok Lgcountry. Glad to see you back. And you win, you got me, I just wasted about 2 hours wondering what line it could be.
Go for it!~!

Well, Nebo, I'm finally caught up, and have loved every second of it. This is ROFL and PIMP funny! Our Dec trip is to celebrate DD being potty trained and is being paid for partially with $$$ saved on diapers. The problem is now I need Depends to read your TR!!!:lmao: How am I gonna explain why Mommy needs a diaper????:confused3
Hi, you know, that is the sweetest thing anybody has said to me all week.
And it only took me about 5 minutes to figure out what PIMP is.

goodnight:eek:

Nebo! I literally clapped for you two when I read your news! Clapped! Right out loud! I sat here and applauded you! You will fall in love with Disney at Christmas. It's so beautiful! Yeah for you and Smidgy!!

And I'm so glad to hear you are at least exploring the possibility of relocating! You'll never know if it's possible if you don't check it out! We took a huge leap of faith to move from MI to NC so I know what it's like to do that. We just decided we didn't want to look back 30 years from now and say we coulda, we shoulda! And we're so glad we did it! We love it here and we're so much closer to the mouse!!

And,,,,,,, Diane has always wanted to see Disney with the Christmas decorations up. Yep, see where this is going?

This is staying at Disney, from the 8th to the 16th, for a total including tax, 53 bucks a night. We plan , if we use it, to do a lot of driving around, and checking out apartments, homes, just the basic demographics of the area.

I'm glad I could brighten your day a little, Nebo!!!! You have certainly brightened a few of mine with this hillarious TR. Since Grace is not my middle name, I'll certainly know what poles, door dividers, etc. to watch out for in the World.:lmao:

You will love Disney in December.:santa: It's our favorite time of year there!:cloud9: You can literally spend days just visiting resorts and enjoying all of the decorations.

Nebo,

I started reading Winkers World of Food before you even plugged it. :thumbsup2

Winkers, my youngest sister gave my middle sister a very similar birthday gift this year, unfortunately she insists on keeping the baby in Florida with her even though the rest of the family lives in New York. :sad2: But she is planning to move back to New York in the spring! :dance3:

Sorry that the clam shell tried to do you in Nebo!

Maggie

Nebos going to move to Florida....We are right behind You...OK maybe in 15 years!!!!!...But Close....

& yes the DIS is much better than Vics....But still does not hold water too...Manhattans!!!

:cool1:

See that! I told you we'd have a new chance to meet! Hubby, ds, my best friend and me are in wdw from dec 8 to 15!

Airline tix are bought and paid for, so mine is a definite.

Keep me in your planning loop, mine is short and sweet so far. We have a backstage tour, a day at sea world and a night at dtd planned. I intended to get a Disney or uni day in there as well...lemme know what you two are doing when you know for sure ok?

Nebo, If you want to do some advance scouting, the local paper is "OrlandoSentinel.com". And you know what I said before about other things.

If that is what you've wanted to do then go for it. :cheer2:
With that cheap room rate you could do some home hunting and just see all the decorations at the resorts. No need to spend the money on tickets this time since you've been lots.
I would think with your machinist experience you could find possibilities on the internet.
Now, which resort bar do we want to see Smidgy at?
Good luck guys. It's a grand plan.

On the note about the code. We were already booked at POR for 11/23-12/2.
Saved $668.34

I love the sentinal! I read it online every time I go to Florida!

My mom is moving down there when she retires. She's even got a mobile home park picked out about midway between Orlando and Disney right off I4.

Moms move is still about 5 years off tho...

LMAO, trust me, if I were to come stomping after you, roaring and breathing fire and brimstone, you WOULD run screaming.. just ask my kids, they'll tell you. ;) The name actually comes from one of my favorite movies, "Willow". Sorsha is the female lead, who originally kicks Val Kilmer's...ummm... donkey; then ends up falling in love with him and making out with him, and since I obsess over Val Kilmer, almost as much as I do over Johnny Depp  , she is my hero. (Run-on sentence alert...)
Anyhow, I will look for you guys at the pool bar! Hopefully we can say hi. :) Good for you guys on booking the Xmas trip! I lived in FL for a while (see my pre-trip for explanation) and would actually love to move back some day. And what a SMOKIN' deal you got on those ASMU rooms! Fantastic! If I thought we could swing another trip right away, I would be all over it. However, since we live in the armpit of the world, our airfare is way too spendy to venture out more than once a year or so. :sad2:
Hmmmm... apparently I need more practice on this whole "quote" bit...

ooohhh, I can beat it, last trip we took I got my hands on the packet of info we get through my work and used our code, got $15 a night at Pop Century! Yep you read that right $15, no they didn't like it any because it was a computer glitch they caught as we were checking in..... after 20 mins of debating with a manager we got our rooms.pirate:

Thanks for the shout out Steve! :goodvibes I even had to go read it because I didn't remember any concrete bras!:rotfl2: Maybe I should change my avatar to Dory!

I really hate to hear about the job thing, Nebo, but I totally understand your booking another trip!! We lost one of our biggest customers last week (b/c we were a subcontractor of sorts) and so I extended our Oct. trip by a day, with the Disney Visa discount. Sometimes you just have to do something crazy when you feel like you hit rock bottom. I hope you and Diane find jobs and a home right next to Disney and lots of pixie dust on that Dec. trip!:wizard:

My mom is moving down there when she retires. She's even got a mobile home park picked out about midway between Orlando and Disney right off I4.

Hey Nebo you'll have friends down there. Jaime and I, with older sister Mia, 85 year old Mom and Jaime's 16 year old daughter in tow, will be moving down sometime in 2009:banana: Be sure to look for me on Main Street USA when you see a horse go potty............

Hey Patrick, you're already in georgia, you can practically walk there compared to most of us. and,,,,,,,,,,,,,
If you combine the vics with the manhattans, you'll probably start singing "It's a Tall World , afterall, since you'll be looking up at the world from your back.

Nebo, If you want to do some advance scouting, the local paper is "OrlandoSentinel.com". And you know what I said before about other things.
Yeah, Marita, I am down at the resort shop every morning as soon as it opens, picking up a Sentinel.

Shawn, I'm still laughing about your Snap-On line, and Dianes' follow up.
I think you're right, unless it's a free trip, nobody will ever beat the 15 a night. When we get a computer glitch, they tell us we don't have any more credits left for our table service.

With daily maid service, useage of pools, free coffee, and if you get the refillable mugs,,,,,,,,, hmmm

And, finally, sure Celery, you can be my adopted sister, will that make Tammy a cousin?

You know Colleen, (and everybody had to see this one coming,) when I'm in Florida, I usually just BUY the Sentinel and read it.

Hey Nebo, good to see ya again (so to speak)

The printed version of the Sentinel sucks pondwater for the last 2 months. They really cut back on things, instead they keep printing " go online to read the news). The print version offer "local stories in depth". The front page features things like "Will Florida be out ouf water in 30 years?" Don't expect to read any actual news anymore. Trust me, I know this, I get the paper every day. On the other hand, you can't get the comics online...

When can we expect an update? Inquiring minds want to know!!

:lmao: I meant before and after my trips to Florida,

kinda like my habit of watching the weather channel alot more about two weeks before...

I buy the real paper while *in* Florida

I totally understand that plans change...

if and when you go, I will be there~

Top Secret - own it, love it. It's a classic - love the cow in boots. Didja know Val did all his own singing in that one? OK, useless trivia thread-hijacking over now.
By far my fav Val Kilmer is "Real Genius", have you seen that one?

As for living in Montana, its OK, I guess, its home. But our economy "inhales with great force", the job market is awful, winters are 6 months of pure hell, we have wildfires so bad our summers are nothing but pure smoke, and it is SO over the top red-state conservative!! Since I am a liberal, environmentalist, feminist, athiest, pacifist somewhat-socialist Democrat, I don't quite fit in.
