DW is currently on the phone with DVC, does anyone have any advice and/or questions/tips that she should mention?

I would seriously check out re-sales. it saved us a bunch of money. I was really nervous about spending that much money "online" so to speak. After speaking with some people in Disney that purchased that way we decided to purchase through the time share store and are very happy.

Buying DVC was the best thing we ever did. We bought through Disney and it went flawlessly. I sent you a PM too.

That's our next step, she wanted to get to the source first. Through DVC there is one benefit, if we buy before the end of the month, we'll get 2009 & 2010 points for a total of 320 points. I'm not sure if resales offer something similar. Also, we have a chance to get into the contemp. DVC

Yes, you won't get those bonus incentives with re sale. Good luck with your decision, we bought in 2 years ago and our only regret is not doing it sooner. We bought in at AKL and LOVE it there and also used points to stay at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary, love them both and are so happy we are owners so we can continue to visit time and time again!:thumbsup2 Good luck with your decision!

Sometimes via resale you can do better than getting 2009 and 2010 points. The Timeshare Store, Inc.® received a listing today that had 2008 points, 2009 points and 2010 points. It was a December use year and the 2008 points, of course, had been banked (need to be used by 12/1/10). Feel free to email The Timeshare Store, Inc.® (sales@dvcstore.com) with your first name, last name and email and we can get you added to the distribution list. You would then receive an email when we get the new listings.

Good luck with your decision.

There are many resale contracts that include 2009 and 2010 points in them, so you can get the same deal with resale.

With a resale you will get all current points available in the contract and then more when the Use Year begins again (also based on whether the seller had borrowed any points). In some cases you will also get banked points from the last Use Year.

With the "deal" you mention, you are only getting the points from the "current" 2009 Use Year (February 1 will mark the first 2010 Use Year points since there is no January Use Year) and then the usual allotment of points for the next Use Year.

If you look at the resales you will find some with all current points intact, all of the next years points available and some will also have points banked from the last Use Year, which on a 160 point contract could result in 480 points available for use - depending on when the Use Year starts.

Good luck with your decision - but be sure to at least take a look at resales before buying directly. As good as that "deal" sounds, there may be something even better ... and at a lower cost. :)

Well, if Bay Lake Tower ("BLT") is the resort that you want, you will probably have to go through Disney direct as the resales for BLT are few and far between. Either way, good luck! :goodvibes
